Cool Use of Tilt Shift

Anyone try using tilt shift on paintings? This photographer did on some van Goghs.

I love van Gogh and some of these work quite well but I don't understand tilt shift.............

That's cool! I must try getting 3D out of 2D using a lensbaby. Will probably not be easy.

A photographer blurs part of these Van Gogh paintings to simulate DOF. Am I the only one thinking: why?

I think the out of focus areas (or bokeh if you want) are "nervous" and unpleasant to look at. Particularly the starry night sky and the one with the bridge in the background.

We are all different and we all like different things. I love the original Van Gogh paintings, and as the old saying goes: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
