Our friend Bev @prttblues is in hospital (Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital room 404H, Hanover,NH since Tuesday with an impacted kidney stone.
I just received an e-mail from her asking me to let everyone know.
She expects to be sent home soon.
that sounds so painful, hope she gets relief soon, DHMC is a wonderful facility so she is in good hands. please let her know she is in our thoughts and prayers. thank you so much for letting us know, Bruni.
Wow- that sounds terribly uncomfortable! And on top of all her shoulder and tooth problems too! Ouch!! Just got out a get well card and will send it off tomorrow (to her home).
Thank you all so much for your well wishes. It has been an insane couple of months with my health. The kidney thing came on so sudden I thought it was appendicitis, as did the doctors in the emergency room. The stone in my kidney is in such a spot that they had to operate and put a stint (or stent?) in my kidney to drain and I go back in 2 weeks for another operation for them to remove the stint (or stent?) and surgically remove the stone as my kidneys aren't normal shaped so it complicates the way the stone can be rid of. So because of the foreign object in my body, it's quite painful to do things. I can take photos but it's a chore and I will persevere. I will upload the photos that I was going to upload before I had to go for my ambulance ride on Tuesday. Unfortunately, because I've been in hospital since Tuesday and just got home yesterday, there a going to be missing days but I'm sure I can find suitable replacements. Yeah, I am going to put fillers in for those days. :-O .. So please bear with me and be patient while I recover from this new thing. I am so lucky to have friends here on 365 who truly care. You are all so wonderful and I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you to Bruni for keeping you all informed. She is such a gem! Look for new photos in the next couple of days. I can only do so much for so long right now.
@prttblues so good to hear you will be getting some relief! take care and look forward to seeing those photos! hopefully the good weather will make things a little easier for you : )
@jackies365 Thanks, Jackie. It's going to be an agonizing 2 weeks but on Monday I am applying for a professional care person to help me with things I would normally be able to do but can't do now. I'm not allowed to lift, stretch or over extend my abdomen because of the stint (or is it a stent??). The scary part of the it all is that I'm peeing blood but it's because of the stint or stent and will go away when they remove it. I have wicked good pain medication and am on antibiotics for 6 more days. I had a wicked high temp (7 degrees higher than my normal temp!!) so they wouldn't release me until it went down so they tried a bunch of different antibiotics through my IV until one worked. What a nightmare the past couple of months have been! At least the op in 2 weeks is a same day op and then I will have go back for a 3rd time for a final procedure. I never want a kidney stone again!!!
Bev, the following is what I wrote to Maggiemae and Allison, I thought I can copy it for you to keep you abreast...
" Tonight I had some Atrial Fibrillation again and Hans insisted we go to the ER. while there, I told the doctor about my terrible cough. they took blood work and a chest x-ray. all was clear. the doctor advised me to stop the antibiotics as they might have brought on the fibrillation. he said a chest cold will go away on it's on".
I hope I can sleep. just took my ratings and my heart beat is 163. normally it's in the middle sixties to seventy. while in the ER it had gone down to 87 and of course they let me go home.
@prttblues my son has kidney stone issues, or i should say he did until he learned to stop drinking alcohol. he would drop to his knees when he tried to pee and then it was all blood. only 21 at the time. he has had 4 removed - no longer drinks. also can't take things like rolaids or tums. he never had one do what yours has done, however. they blasted his with ultrasound, broke them up, then basketed them. painful but it worked. hope this is your only issue. every time his back hurts, he worries.
