Hi everyone. I managed a ride to the hospital from my back cracker at 5:30 this morning. I had the surgery this morning and it went as well as could be expected. My friend who I meet for lattes each week was able to skip out of work for a bit to pick me up when I was ready to go home. I've got a photo of a male house finch that was outside the hospital while I was waiting for the car to pull up to the curb (but have not yet uploaded to computer as it hurts to sit for too long). I'm probably the only person who brings their camera to hospitals when they have to have surgery but you never know what will pop up. The nurse guarded it well while I was in surgery for a little over 2 hours. In any case, I wanted to let you all know how I am doing. The surgeon was able to get all three stones out of my right kidney, including the big one that was near where my kidneys connect in the back. That is where most of the pain is at the moment. They have me on good pain killers (yay for happy pills!) and I have a stent in for another 2 weeks to make sure things flow smoothly. I am keeping hydrated and resting. Thank you to each and every one of you for your thoughts, well wishes and prayers. I truly appreciated all of your patience the past couple of months while I deal with these health issues and get back to a normal routine again. You are such great friends to me (even though we've not met - well, not all of us . . . yet!). I've a great 365 family! You are all appreciated and I think the world of you. Now to just recover from this operation. Kidneys don't like it when tools are inserted into it and having stones get the laser treatment and I don't think it likes having them pulled out in pieces, either. I will upload my finch tomorrow (hopefully!) and hopefully will be able to stroll in my back yard but if not, I've another photo in my head as I came across something adorable today and want to try my new camera's HDR setting on it. So, again, thank you all ever so much for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers and for the well wishes. You've no idea how much it has meant to me knowing that I've got support from such a fantastic group of people! Now off to bed for more sleep (I've done lots of that today - it's amazing how tired you can be after only one and half hours sleep and being under the influence of anesthesia and pain medication).
Glad to read that all went well. Now each day should be a little better than the next until you're fully recovered. And I don't really know any body organ that likes things inserted in it!! Glad to be a support to you even if it's from a distance!
