We've all tried to get that fabulous close-up of the moon with it's craters and impacts clearly defined, but has anyone noticed how different those patterns are from around the world? I saw this http://365project.org/gilbertwood/365 by Denise @gilbertwood in Australia and noticed it didn't look like my photo (not posted). Here's Cathy's @cashewhttp://365project.org/cashew/365 in Georgia USA and it's different from my perspective further north in Nova Scotia! And all this time I thought these photos were all the same!
Enjoy the novelty and uniqueness of your own moon overhead!
@pamknowler Now this is interesting to note... Yours is more like my perspective along latitudinal lines! Perhaps I ought to post what I took away last night! Thanks, Pam!
@Weezilou Thanks Louise :) I've often wondered if the moon would look different from around the world - and now you have answered this for me! Now just one more query - why was mine blue????? :)
Here's a moon, captured on the last but one day of December, 2014, late afternoon and just before sunset. I'd only had my Sony A6000 a couple of weeks and was so excited that at last I could capture a moonshot. It's hugely cropped as the only zoom lens which I had then went just up to 50mm.
As one who loves songs and the poetic lines contained therein, "I'll Be Seeing You" comes to mind, ending with the line,
"I'll be looking at the moon,
But I'll be seeing you..."
@kimdavis Though we haven't crossed paths here, and I didn't know where you lived, having looked at the other photos, I was in the general vicinity guess where you might be! Now THAT's fun!
I remember the comparison by @summerfield and @salza and how fun it was to see the difference. Recently one of my moon shots was chosen to be displayed in a local gallery. It first appeared on 365 though:
@salza super cool comparison!! I love seeing the flip!! @Weezilou thanks for bringing this up, it was fun to see the differences depending on where people shot from... :)
You can almost see how our perspectives are as though we were looking at the same thing from both sides of the pond (as we actually were, I suppose!)
Mine was blue courtesy of Picasa 3!!
@Weezilou
It does look rather like yours?! I was in southern England.

I called it 'Fly me to the moon':
and here's mine from central U.K

Thank you all for sharing your photos and comments about "Our Same Moon"! The variety & colouration comparisons are both fascinating and lovely to look through!

Here's mine from the Southeastern portion of the U.S.
This is a vertical flip of Anne's below. Hand held though. Taken in May 2015 in NZ.
