Finally got round to it ... Took six shots with tripod, identical settings, different focal points ... And then struck a brick wall. It seems that focus stacking can't be done in PS Elements 12. Unless anyone can tell me otherwise? I have googled and googled to no avail. There are no auto-blend or auto-align options which seem to be required for focus stacking. Looking forward to any wise tips you can give and will much appreciate any responses from you lovely 365ers!
@pistache Please forgive me if I am wrong, and the only advice I can offer is for Photoshop not elements, but if you are using Lightroom I think you can select all the images at once, right click on images then select 'open as layers in photoshop'.. This will then open a drop down that allows you to click on auto-align, which should do precisely that and hopefully you have the whole lot to work on in PS .......I think!
@pistache@taffy Yes I had the same problem with an old version of Photoshop. Very frustrating. I need to upgrade my computer and my software it seems. Sounds expensive!! I hope you find a cheaper solution!!
Thank you very much you lovely people. I knew I could rely on you. Pity you weren't telling me it's fine with Elements but that really isn't your fault! I shall check out the plug-in. Probably. I may also live without focus stacking in my life for some time to come :)
I may be wrong here because I am not particularly au fait with using layers but in PSE don't you load all of the shots as different layers and erase/mask the out of focus bits and put them all together? or is there some automatic thing that does it in PS?
