Hi folks. I miss 365 and I knew when I had a Photoshop question you all could help.
Back in the day I bought Photoshop Elements 6 and I've been using it since. I'm about to get another computer and unfortunately I don't know if it would be compatible with Windows 8 or 10.
I thought maybe I should just upgrade Photoshop, but I can't find where to just buy it outright rather than monthly. The version I have now is on a CD.
So I guess that's two questions:
1. Would PS Elements 6 be compatible with Windows 8 or 10?
2. How do I buy PS outright rather than monthly
Oh, another question
3. Would it be worth it to go to Photoshop CC or should I stick with what I know & go with Elements? I have worked with Lightroom and I've preferred the Elements so far
@herussell I'm not sure if Elements 6 is compatible with windows 8 or 10 but it is pretty old now so I doubt it.
I'm also fairly sure that the last no monthly paid version was Photoshop CS6 and after a quick look on the Adobe site it doesn't seem possible to do anything other than pay monthly. I do this and find Lightroom and Photoshop for less than £9 a month a reasonable cost to me.
By the sound of it if you have preferred Elements so far why not just get the latest version of that unless you really want to learn Photoshop there's is little point.
@chippy1402 If you pay a monthly fee for Photoshop, are you working on your computer or on the internet? I just spent two months on the road and was with out internet service for about half the time. I don't want to be tied to the internet.
@byrdlip Photoshop runs on my MacBook and doesn't have to be connected to the Internet to use. I think the license allows it to run up to 30 days between licence checks.
You can buy Elements 14 outright for US$59.99 promotional price. A decent deal and so much more than you have in Elements 6. That seems eight major releases later, or perhaps Adobe skipped one or two numbers somewhere. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html

US$9.99 seems a steal to me. Two lattes at Starbucks...
Like Frank said, you can buy PS only monthly anymore. But the price is ok (considering upgrades were several hundred $$). It does download on your computer, so you don't have to be on the internet all the time, or when you're on the road. But it will check periodically if your subscription is up-to-date, and if it is not, it will disable your software.
Don't know about Elements.
@herussell I've only read the thread quickly, but no- one seem to have yet mentioned that for the monthly subscrption, you also get Lightroom - the two together for less than $10 a month seems like a steal to me.

Elements does everything I need. Maybe if I was an aspiring professional it would be different.
