I am an administrator in a low income area in Mississippi. We are trying to start some interests clubs for our 7th and 8th graders since this is the age where they seem to lose interest in school. Sorry cant help with cameras but hope this idea may help. I did some work with a charity in the Uk called Cafe Art, they were trying to get less fortunate people involved in photography. To this end they approached a camera manufacturer for some print cameras these had about 20 shots on them. They then gave them to the participants and told them to go and take 20 shots of London, these were all printed and judged the top 12 became part of a calendar. Just an idea. www.cafeart.org.uk
Leigh Anne, I'd be happy to. I have a Canon Power Shot SX260HS, a pretty nice little compact and with manual controls if needed and some nice features and a long zoom. Kids like the zoom. Much more flexible and powerful than a camera phone. It takes excellent jpegs. E-mail me at hymus@optonline.net where I might send it.
I have 2 Canon point and shoots - an SX200 and an S100. The S100 lens does not retract, but I contacted Canon because I heard that they were repairing them at no cost. They did respond back and they said they would repair for free, but I never sent it in since I got a new camera. Would you like to have them both or just the one that works?
