Wide Angle Nikon FX Lens

I am looking for opinions on a nikon fx lens that is wide angle. I just upgraded to full frame and switched to a nikon and looking for a new wide angle. I am a huge fan of the wide and do not need to be sold on its merits, but looking to see what others are using. I love landscape, architecture and shooting at night is a must since I plan on really capturing the milky way one of these days. I really do not want to go much over $1,000 at this point. If you have a review please include a photo.

My top two choices so far are
Tokina ATK AF 16-28 f2.8 looks like a great deal, but there is no dpreview of it.
Tamro​n SP 15-3​0mm f/2.​8 is double the price but has good reviews

@phillyphotos I have the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX. I feel it is an excellent lens. Currently there are 127 reviews on the B&H site, where I purchased mine.

I have the Nikon 14-24 f2.8 which I bought used. I'm not sure what the prices would be for it, but it might be worth checking out to see if it comes in anywhere close to your price point. If not available used, I wouldn't have purchased it as it was (and is) my priciest lens. But I do love its optics.

I have the Tokina. I don't use it often, but when I do, I fall instantly in love with the colors and clarity the lens provides.

I also have the Tokina but, had it been available at the time, I would undoubtedly have bought the Tamron 15-30mm - I am delighted with the Tamron 24-70mm and the 70-200mm which I also have. The best w/a FX lens is, as Taffy suggests, almost certainly the Nikon 14-28mm but it is much more expensive than the other choices. Now that I have it though, I'm in no hurry to change my Tokina.

In case anyone is still interested in this thread...I recently bought the tokina and I love it. All my other lenses are nikons so I was nervous...but I really like the tokina! And you cannot beat the price!!

I ended up with the Nikon 20mm f 1.8. I was not in love with the tokina due to weight and the huge lens cap.
