First off, I need tripod recommendations! I'm taking a road trip down the west coast so I need some portable, sturdy, dependable and easily taken out and put away. Willing to pay more than $50 for a good enough tripod
I am also looking into prime lenses for my Nikon d3100 for I currently only have the 35mm that came with it and the zoom lens. I want something that's fast and sharp, good for road trip things like landscapes, portraits, and etc.
If you have a nikkor prime lens, please link me to your pics! Thanks
Nikon 60mm f2.8
Exceptional macro and portraits, very sharp, but I'd go wider for landscapes.
I have very few long shots on my project, but here's a portrait... of sorts:
Sorry, I have really cheap tripods, so no recommendations there.
This is from my AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G. I'm not sure what else I have taken with that lens, lately. I tend to switch lenses often, but for a prime, I wouldn't be without this as it is great for landscapes as well as being able to focus very close up.
I have an induro tripod which by removing the head of your choice fits in my roll on suitcase. I recently had a loose leg clamp and they repaced the parts for free. They are on b&h and amazon. I am now shooting with a 50 but recommend wider for landscape
I have a I have a Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1.8 too. If you search 50mm on here, I tag tons of pics that I take with the Nikon d5200 because I love the lens (it's my only prime lens)...
The Nikkor f/1.8 DX 35mm. It's not the most perfect lens in the world, but a few clicks in Camera Raw and the lens and chromatic aberration are easy to take care of.

The 50mm F/1.8 (which would be about 75mm on a crop sensor)
and the Micro 105mm f/2.8 (about 150mm on a crop sensor)
