Lightroom display problem

June 3rd, 2016
Lightroom CC seems to be muting my images/not showing me the full extent of the colours. I posted an image of flowers in my garden the other day and was shocked at how vibrant it was on here yet in Lightroom it looked ok. So I downloaded it from 365 and imported it back into Lightroom and I split my screen and viewed it alongside the 365 version: https://www.dropbox.com/.../Screenshot%202016-06-01%2001... There is a difference between the duller Lightroom display on the left and more vibrant 365 on the right. If I split the screen and view the same image in Lightroom and Windows photo viewer I get the same difference, its duller in Lightroom and more vibrant in photo viewer - not just this one particular image, other images look meh in Lightroom and more vibrant elsewhere too. My son looked at the image on 365 and I sent it to him and he opened it in various browsers and paint.net and it looks vibrant everywhere except for my Lightroom. I have proved that it is not my screen settings at fault as I can see both dull and vibrant versions on the screen simultaneously. The image views consistently across everything except my Lightroom so something is not right with my Lightroom. I updated Lightroom today = no improvement. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you solve it?

If you want to share a Dropbox link, right click on the image in Dropbox and choose" copy Dropbox link" which will copy a link to the clipboard. Then Control V will paste that link into text. The link you show is private to your Dropbox.

Hi Sue,
Have you changed your import settings or any other settings recently?

in Develop module / 'camera calibration' (down the bottom) may have changed recently - look at and try different settings for both options -
(1) "Process:" (eg) '2012 process (current)' or

(2) Profile: (eg) Adobe Standard.

Try a combination of options & you will see the image colours seem to change. ( you may now be on 'natural' but you may have previously used 'Standard' .??

another option is to check te image imported into an old catalogue ( eg old backup?) - import the picture and see if the colours are improved..?

@ltodd Adobe Standard is probably not the best start, it's quite drab. Camera Standard, or whatever picture control you have set in the camera is a better place to begin.

@frankhymus Thanks Frank, I don't know why that link won't work on here it worked fine on Facebook.

@ltodd Thanks Lyn, that link is helpful. I have played with the cameras settings since I noticed that what I see in Lightroom and what the same image looks like on here don't match, but I wasn't paying much attention to what I was changing from one set of shots to another. I need to do some more experiments and make sure that the camera settings and camera calibration in Lightroom match to see if I can get to the bottom of it. I just can't get my head round the fact that an image that looks ok in Lightroom looks garish on here. There is a noticeable difference between what I'm seeing in Lightroom and the how much more pumped up the same image looks on 365.

What color space do you have set in Lightroom? 365 in conjunction with standard browsers will render only sRGB accurately. I don't think can be your issue however; the "garishness" should be the other way around if, say AdobeRGB, is chosen, "wrong" for 365.
