As most of us already know there was a 7.1 mag earthquake off the shores of North Island. I know there is a quite big NZ population here on 365project. While I keep reading there are no immediate report of damages or injuries I just cannot help asking: are you guys all right in the Gisborne area?
http://i.stuff.co.nz/national/83823746/East-Cape-earthquake-sends-TVs-and-pictures-flying-people-to-the-hills you reminded me to look up where it was! i felt it as very miild wabble here only because i was already awake, looks like it just knocked stuff down as it was out to sea and not under any populated area, but 1m tsunami waves are expected. i think we dodged another bullet! big earthquakes are predicted for all the major faultlines in nz, the alpine fault near us they one day expect at least an 8 pointer, but you never know when or exactly where. @alophoto@homeschoolmom
We are all fine - not even a wobble here - mind you I haven't got out of bed yet - there will be wobbles then! We are down in the South and don't get as many earthquakes as the Gisborne area in the north. The tsunami warning has been cancelled - as usual!
Lower North west of the North Island and the earth did not move here .. but thank you for your concern.. all reports say no major damage ( few broken ornaments etc) a tsunami warning was put out but dropped soon after ..
I was woken suddenly at 4.35am, both my cats alert and looking anxious. I put it down to the rogue cat that has been coming through our cat flap at night, but in hindsight I'm wondering wether it was a tremor. My friend just down the road reckon's she felt it. If it was a tremor it was my first experience.
