Have you ever sent a picture in for any online contest and won? Are they for real? And if you have entered a picture what site was it?

I have entered about 8 different contests and have not "won" as much as a receipt for the entry fee.

Olympus has a monthly contest but of course you need to shoot with an Olympus camera. That's the only one I've come across so far.

I stay local (State Departments of Natural Resources, Humane Societies, etc.) In other words, people I trust.

I think Kevin said it best. It is all guts and glory. I busted butt for a contest last year, had my work galleried in the State Capitol Rotunda, and won first prize. Yay! I received 2 tickets to the State History Museum as the first place winner. I didnt care. It was just having it displayed that meant a lot to me. And it is always on their website:
