I have been asked by Michael, Ethel's wonderful husband, to let her friends and followers know that Ethel suffered a fall last weekend and is currently in hospital. Fortunately, there are no broken bones.
Michael was not sure how long Ethel would be in hospital for but I am sure once she is able, she will again be posting photos and gracing her friends with her thoughtful and insightful comments.
Thank you Belinda for sharing this unfortunate news about Ethel's fall. Please send her my heartfelt wishes via Michael for a swift recovery. My thoughts are with her Xx
Thank you to all of you for your good, kind and indeed, loving messages. I am now home again after a 3 week stint in hospital and a Rehabilitation Centre. I have been helped immensely by the latter, particularly the physiotherapy treatment. I am limited to a 4 wheel walker, but will be following up with outpatients Physio and exercises at home. I have been inspired by the courage and tenacity of others with far worse problems than my own.
I was at my eldest grandson's 30th birthday family dinner and after the festivities, was on my way to fetch my handbag. I tripped on a Turkish rug and fell on a mountain bike in my daughter's lounge room. Fortunately my daughter accompanied me to the hospital and corroborated my story, so I escaped the diagnosis of dementia. The mountain bike was a joint gift to birthday boy and parked ready to go home in his car. So there was laughter in the midst of adversity. I was given a bit of stick from Ambulance driver, for not having more sense that to be riding a mountain bike at my age.
I hope to get back to posting again, soon. At the suggestion of @golftragic, Michael brought my camera into the Rehab hospital where I had some fun playing and editing on iPad. I am spending time enjoying what I can do, and trying not to grieve over the things I can't do.
Every one of your messages is precious to me. Thank you.
@newbank I really get what you mean, Ruth. Even after more than 20 years, I still have to fight my instincts to overdo things. Also to work out when I'm "half tired" on a walk, so that I have enough steam left toget back again.
@ethelperry Mine at the moment is that I have to figure out first whether if I go to the place 10 minutes drive away if I'll be safe to get home.... sadly I'm having to accept at present the answer is often no. Frustrating... Take care.
