Changing camera details on photos?

January 4th, 2011
Hello,

I've just signed up today and uploaded my first photo and I noticed that it automatically inputs a camera into that section on the right hand side, is there any way I can change this to incorporate my actual camera i've used?

I've tried to search but can't seem to find anything, so sorry if this has been asked before!

Thanks.

Well I haven't actually input any camera yet so it's not actually telling anyone my camera, it just says d-lab.2/3?

It's supposed to actually show the camera you used based on the info that is stored in the photo.. not sure why it would be wrong.

I've posted photos using three cameras: Canon 500D, Canon SX210 & my iPhone (I was desperate!). The iPhone detail didn't appear on that photo but this website has accurately recorded which of my two camera I've used for the photos, whether the compact or the dSLR. Not sure why your photos should be showing up as having been taken with a different camera.

I took it with my SLR (film) so that would make sense then, so I assume when I use my P+S it will correctly enter the right camera?

Thanks for all the replies!

@hideinpockets - having had a quick look at your picture (great shot btw!) I'm going to hazard a guess that it was shot on film and scanned onto a CD at the processing lab?
You'd have to edit the Exif info and change it so that the site will recognise the camera (and not the lab scanner) from that, but you could tag the photo with the camera name in the meantime perhaps?

You could try editing the EXIF information with a program like Opanda to insert the correct information. Or maybe Photoshop (I have an old version of Photoshop, so never had too much luck changing EXIF with it, and I usually use Opanda because it's easier to open)

I don`t know, but I hope the day when we can edit the EXIF info when uploading, will never come.
I just noticed a newly uploaded photo, and I could swear I`ve seen it here before. And the photo WAS taken last month, only uploaded today (by a newbie). But it has all the EXIF,so it cant be a stolen one :-/
...anyways,I`m pretty sure when it comes to DSLR`s and Point&Shoots, this website allways gets it right.

Thanks Dr Rubberfunk, it was indeed shot on film and then scanned onto a CD! I can't work out how to edit the Exit info (not sure if I'm being totally stupid!) but i've tagged my camera in the meantime! :)

Ok thanks! I think i'll leave it as it is for now, and then next time I upload one of my SLR photos I shall try to change the EXIF info first (And I wrote EXIT first time whoops!)

Thanks again everyone!

@spaceman You can steal photos and keep all the EXIF, heh. Unless you run it through a program to strip it, it stays there, stolen or not.

Ah! The mighty OM10! So I won't be alone when I get round to using mine for a few shots ...

@Dr Rubberfunk, not at all, it's a brilliant camera, I am halfway through a colour film at the moment so looking forward to seeing how that turns out (it's only me 2nd film!) But I am in love with it, it was my dad's first so it's being passed through the family, I look forward to seeing your photos!

@spaceman as a mid-range geek, i can assure you, if someone wants to, they CAN have the exif info to say whatever the "bleep" they want. not sharing it on here, and no i DO NOT do it myself, i just know how to, in fact most people do know, but probably don't realise it. hmm too much....

@taidster
But only if you "create" the exif data afterwards, with some software, and copy the original info, right? I dont see any other way
January 5th, 2011
@spaceman lol, i wasn't aware of any software to do this, but who knows, there seems to be software for anything these day lol. but no thats not how, but sorry i'm not going to post it on here, especially with the photo stealing that has happened recently.

:)
