any New Years photography plans?

I'm going to finally learn how to take photos of people. I like scenery shots and close-ups. Taking shots of people only occurs to me when they serve as a part of the scenery. The holidays are over and I managed not to take any photos of my friends and relatives. The only ones I took are a couple of timer shots of me and my husband when we were out walking the dog.

I need to get better with that.

I think I have a year of puppy pictures to take this year. Lady Catherine is the easy one:

Sir Percival is going to be the stinker (he moves too fast):

A
Definitely with you on taking more people pictures - particularly posed ones. This year I've got better at candid street portraits (but still don't do them often) but have done very few posed portraits
Also I'd like to do more night photography and long exposure type stuff :)

I *will* learn GIMP photo editing this year!! I've had a guide and CD for well over a year now; time to bust it out and MAKE time ("find" just never works!) to learn it. I'm still limited to having a "point and shoot" camera (DSLR just isn't in my budget right now) but it has a great zoom, great color, and I've gotten some very nice shots with it, so I'll work with what I've got! The point being, of course, that whatever level we're at, always move forward. :)

I will continuing pushing the boundaries with processing and start selling my work to get some much needed income.

Picking up my camera after a bit of a hiatus would be a great start!

I don't have any specific goals really, but I want to do better with my project next year. There are too many bad, uninspired, and poor quality photos in my 2016 set. Before I joined the site in late April I didn't have any drive or will to push myself and take good photos. Bad ones will happen from time to time and of course that's fine, but I know for a fact I could have done a lot better.

Completing my first year of 365 is a real achievement for me so that I now have the discipline down and am really looking at the world around me in a different way. For 2017, I would like to focus more on camera technique and less on Photoshop technique :)

Photoshop. I have both LR and Photoshop but rarely venture into PS I aim to force myself to use it instead of LR so I can learn it fully from a photography perspective. Also I now have a good tripod so I'm going to force myself to use it more I am way to self concious and tend to try and take shots without being noticed as I shoot at lot of landscapes this is not the ideal method!

Learn, learn, learn. There are so many skills I want to improve; my manual skills so they become automatic and my macro skills need work so more practice there too. 2017 should be great 😀

i am going to do some film developing, wish me luck!
December 26th, 2016
@kali66 you won't need luck, looking forward to seeing what you get. I develop about 3/4 films every year, through a Fuji shop, I'v started to scan but as yet have not gone down the chemical route.

I'll complete my Haze's strangers portrait project by getting to 100 portraits. Right now I'm on 85:

But I love it so much - the portrait photography plus telling folks' story that I think I will not be able to stop so it will become No.101 etc or Haze's strangers Mark 2!

I am always looking for a challenge - my son gave me a book for Christmas called "Creative Photograpy - 52 fun exercises for developing self-expression with your camera" and I was given a tripod by my husband, so combine the two along with 365 project and I think I have some things to work on! I have learnt so much through being part of this community and I am very grateful for that too. Happy New Year!

I will do the 100 strangers I started last year and lasted till the end of January so only have 3 photos. I will try to continue through the year and finish it sometime next year.
