That's the spirit! So many folks think a shot might be beyond them because they don't have professional equipment, but there are an endless number of common devices around the house that are just waiting to be discovered that can really jazz up a shot! :)
This shot was a little more complicated. The flowers were in a window. I shot toward the sky using the on-camera flash and a light very similar to the one @northy posted. Processed to Black and White.
I have a half a dozen flashlights that I like to use depending on the situation.
Plus I have several short and long leashes for my speedlight which give me flexibility. Today's photo was shot with a pair of white acrylic plates and a cheap continuous studio light..
Does it matter what type of bulb it is?? LEDs and fluorescent give off colored I've found ( and still haven't got to grips with white balance switch on camerar) so sometimes photos look blue
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Mostly I have my camera on auto white balance and it handles things pretty good. But in Lightroom in the develop you can tweak the temp to the warmer side. I saw no strong blue cast with this light but assume my camera's white balance is handling. Here is something that may help. http://digital-photography-school.com/introduction-to-white-balance/
@lstasel I have shot with my window in the sun and my white sheer over the window. Does an amazing job. I have learned that many of the people here experiment with what they have available and do wonders.
Like @northy I use the Softbox app as well for some "supplemental" lighting...I also use cheap workshop lights (I got two for $20NZD and they've not failed me yet)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond You are correct Jackie. Different light bulbs give off different colors. I sometimes take a bunch of different flashlights and switch flashlights until I get a color I want. I also shoot RAW, much easier to fix white balance in Photoshop.

I'm pretty sure I have a photo somewhere in my project, but I can't find it just now...
