Silver Efex Pro 2 question

March 23rd, 2017
I got Silver Efex downloaded to my computer. How can I get my picture to it? I have tried to drag and drop, but it will not do it. Or do I have to download it only as a plug in for Gimp which I am using? And how would I do that? Thanks for any help you can give me. And please be specific because I am not really good at all of this yet. But really want to use this program.

I use it as a plugin through Photoshop Elements - not sure about gimp as I only just downloaded Gimp the other day

I'm on a mac. All I do is launch silver efex prof 2. Then, not in the window that opens, but the tab at the top you see silver efex pro and file. Click on file, and pull down to open image. Hope that helps

@miata2u The Youtube link that Annie posted is the workaround thai I was referring to - if you choose to do it I suggest you make backup copies of your Gimp files as it would be easy to corrupt them. Good Luck!

Hi Penny. If what I do with Silver Efex Pro 2 is any help that's fine, you may already be doing it. All I do is simply right-click on any photo and choose the option Open with .... and then choose Silver Efex from the list. It's a great editing program, the templates on the left usually fit the bill. Have you tried all the other programs in the Nik suite from Google? Viveza 2, Color Efex Pro 4, HDR Efex Pro 2? and more. All for free and all great at doing what they say they will.

@jon_lip Interesting - I was under the impression that the Nik Suite couldn't handle raw files... certainly both LR and PS convert raw files to Tiff before exporting them and they're reimported in that format.

@vignouse Cheers Richard, I forgot to mention that I only use Nik stuff with JPGs. Usually after I've put them through Lightroom. My main editing s/w is Corel Paintshop Pro X9

@jon_lip Ah, well that explains it - the Nik suite won't give of its best with Jpegs of course, but if it's only for touching up...
