Posting Personal Shots for Family and Friends

March 23rd, 2017
I have an extra album that I would like to use for more personal type shots that only friends and family members would be interested in. These people are not 365 members.
Is there a way that I can restrict this album so that I do not flood my followers feed with these photos but still allow certain non-members to view? Or should I tell friends and family to become members even though they would not be taking photos or using the site for anything other than viewing this album.
My objection is not that the photos are personal, but in consideration of flooding followers homepage with a ton of these type shots.
Does anyone else do this and how do you handle this?

You can make photos restricted so that only certain people can see them (i.e. selected people who follow you), but then ONLY the people you choose can see them so non-members wouldn't be able to.
You could of course ask family and friends to become members so they can see the photos and select just them to view restricted photos, and everyone else to just public photos.
Would it not be easier to just send the personal photos to friends/ family? Maybe as a monthly round robin type email or something similar?

@blueace
You know, I may just have to do email type correspondence more regularly than I do.
I really like the 365 format where the photos are in a calendar view that we can easily go back over to see and you cannot do that with email. That is why I would like to use 365.
It is definitely a corundum.

Wendy have you considered something like Google+ photos. I have found it very useful and plus you can restrict who can view the photos.

Like Sally, I use Google+ for sharing family photos. Though photos aren't in a calendar view, I do keep them in albums so they are easy to go back through. Really quick and easy to share by making a family group.

Flickr is similar it also gives you a TB of storage and you can choose who sees your photos.

Dropbox might even work for this. Your family/friends can download the program on their computer, tablet, or phone and new photos will show up whenever you upload them. Great for avoiding emails ;) This is usually how I share photos with my technology hating granny since its easy for her to just open the program/app and do whatever. No worries about losing emails or forgetting to save photos or accidentally deleting things, depending on your settings.

Google Photos (different from Google+) might also work for you but I haven't really used the Share functionality myself. Photos automatically organize by the date they were taken, even within albums, so that could be a useful feature for you. There's also an app available for it but I've never used it.

I've had similar issues. My in-laws want to see my photos, but they don't have Facebook and the photos are rather large to e-mail. But, even though my FIL is quite computer savvy, he won't go to any of the pages.

With Google Photos, you can send a link in email. Super easy for everyone.

If you feel like keeping to this site, maybe another account might work?

@rjb71 Flickr presents your photos perfectly. I also use Shutterfly share sites (free) as I can bundle an event and provide a link. If the family member wants to print, make a book, etc., so easy!
