Accidentally Deleting a Post... and all the comments and Favs!

July 6th, 2017
I posted a picture of an unusual beetle just before midnight last night when I didn't know what it was. Having a quick peak on my 'phone this morning I was delighted to see that it had garnered 16 comments, 14 Favs and was on both TP and PP... even better, @suzanne234 had identified it for me as Trichius Fasciatus - the Bee Beetle. I went into edit to add this information into my commentary and when saving the comment I managed to tick the Delete Picture box and before I could do anything about it, I had lost the image, comments and all. Problems caused by tapping on a small screen with large fingers :-((

It's not the first time this has happened to me and I'm sure that I'm not the only one so this is aimed at @scrivna : Ross, I can see that it might be difficult/impossible/undesirable to have a mechanism whereby one could undelete a post deleted in error but would it be possible when the Delete Image box is ticked to bring up a dialogue box asking to confirm/deny the deletion instead of losing everything in the blink of an eye?

I'm sure you would avoid a lot of future angst if you can do this!

Oh, no. I don't use my phone for stuff like this. Did you try hitting the back button?

@homeschoolmom No use Lisa - once it's deleted from the 365 database it's gone forever :-((

I was wondering if you haven't cleared your browsing history and you used your back button if you could go back to your editing and uncheck the delete box and hit enter if it would restore it?

I just read your comment to Lisa. Never mind my comment. Repost and we will comment and fave again.

Could you get a copy of your image from those who faved it? or is it the comments that you really wanted?

@Cherrill Thanks for replying Cherill: I still have the image on my computer so yes, it was the comments (and Favs!) that I regretted losing.

So sorry for the accidental deleting- so many of us can sympathize with stories of our own. But it did result in a great suggestion to Ross.

After this happened to me, if I have to exit ones I have comments I love on, I screen shot them first. It doesn't save them here, but lets me keep a conversation I value if something inadvertently happens.

Being asked to confirm a 'delete' does certainly happen on other websites and it seems to me it would be a useful feature on 365. @vignouse @scrivna
