Stolen photo - sad

October 8th, 2017
It's sad to see a stolen photo in the Top Twenty. I'm not going to let him influence me in leaving 365 Project but I have been thinking about it. I'm kind of burned out anyway. We'll see.

WHAT??! This is NOT that kind of site! I'm hoping the guilty party will admit his mistake and set things right. We are a family here, and don't do that sort of thing to one another - or anybody else! SHAME! :(

So disappointed that someone would do that here. Like Julie said, we're family...

This is sad to read. It was nice to think that everyone on here had a high level of integrity.

Have you told @scrivna
October 8th, 2017
i looked through the top twenty and cant see any i would suspect to be stolen...
October 8th, 2017
This is shocking!! I hope Ross @scrivna can sort it out for you.

@kali66 I've also looked through and can't see one that grabs me as stolen @mittens in the interests of transparency would it not be best to state which photo? I follow most of the people in the TT so it leaves me wondering if it's one of them all though I highly doubt it.

I had notified Ross and he was looking into it. That is one of the reasons why I was surprised to see the picture on the Top Twenty. I feel bad getting someone into trouble but it is not fair to the rest of us.

This isn’t good. How do you know when a photo is stolen.
October 8th, 2017
@rjb71 @kjarn Richard and Kathy, if you are in Google Chrome, you can right click on the image and then click search google for image to find where it originated.
October 8th, 2017
@mittens That's clever I didn't realise you could do that. Thanks

well thankyou for not naming and shaming Marilyn, I am not interested to know who it is, anyone who would do that to get kudos on a site like this has some kind of personal issues we should be compassionate about, different if it is done for monetary gain. An issue to be aware of for sure, plagiarism is not good, could it be possible the person is operating under a pseudonym here and does 'own' the photo? . btw its not me!
October 8th, 2017
It is sad if that's the case but like Kali and Richard I can't see any that strike me as stolen either
October 8th, 2017
@kali66 A couple of the pictures had the artists copyright name on them that was cropped off so I don't think he is operating under a pseudonym. I guess everyone can decide for themselves, though.

@mittens what made you check to see if it was original?

Lock him up!!—lock him up!😂

two years ago, i saw a photo on google that looked almost like one of my landscape photos, it made my heart jump. on closer inspection with my raw version, there were a couple of little differences. as it was a landscape, i remembered that at the time there were quite a few photographers who were shooting the same scenery.

the photo in the current TT has 3 owners on pinterest and twitter. i'd like to give our person the benefit of the doubt, although it is probably unlikely that the same person would have exactly the same shot as there has to be a slight difference in angles. however, i did look a couple of TT's back and i found one that was exactly similar to one posted in twitter by a woman. whereas the twitter photo was in landscape format with her watermark on the right, the one on 365 was square losing the part where the woman's watermark would have been. in comparing both photos, i saw no difference, especially in the lighting.

it is rather disappointing that this would happen. i have had the experience of my work having been stolen in the past, a short story, and the person never once apologized, so this matter is rather interesting for me.

If true it's terribly sad, I think, that someone feels the need for such approbation and has to do this to secure it.
October 9th, 2017
That is disappointing and I feel a bit sad said person would feel the need to this. 🙁
October 9th, 2017
@annied I got suspicious when I saw inconsistencies in his pictures and decided to check some of them and found I was right.
October 9th, 2017
@mittens I would have done the same ☺
October 21st, 2017
@mittens. Marilyn, has this issue been resolved?
October 21st, 2017
@888rachel I don't know Rachel. I know Ross was looking into it but not sure if he has been able to get a hold of the person. I saw a recent picture of his that was suspicious but couldn't find a source for it so I'm just waiting to see. @scrivna

@mittens I have just seen this post and I wonder if the stolen photo you are referring to is that posted by Swillin Billy Flynn. If it is you should know that Billy Flynn isn't his real name, but that of his pirate persona.

His real name is Bazz Cooper and is also well known for his photography. He has an exhibition in Cornwall at present I believe.

Maybe the stolen photo you refer to is from someone else, but if it is this person, you will see that they are the same person and the photo isn't stolen at all. The photo I am referring to is Mevagissey lighthouse top twenty 29 September.

@onewing Thank you Babs. That is not the person I am talking about. I am not familiar with him.
October 22nd, 2017
@mittens Okay, it was just a suggestion because I know Billy aka Bazz uses different names and also his wife posts on 365 too, so their photos will be similar sometimes.

Hope the culprit can be found and a solution to the problem resolved.

@mittens Looks like your photo thief has been sprung. Well spotted for identifying him. Lots of gaps in his project now.
November 24th, 2017
@onewing Yes, Babs, it looks like Ross was finally able to get through to him and I noticed all the holes, too. I hope it will be resolved now.
