I have a photo from 18 months ago that keeps showing up in my statistics as having been viewed, usually one, sometimes two times per day. This has been going on for at least a year now. As of today it's had 382 views, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. There's nothing special about the photo - it's only been fav'd three times in fact (deservedly so).
Does anyone else see mysterious clicks on mundane photos popping up? FWIW, here is the shot. I'd be interested to know if the photo is embedded in a blog or in 365 discussions somewhere and if anyone else has had this experience.
I wonder if it could be just 365ers searching for sunset images (searching tags). I've had one of mine stolen from here, I didn't bother telling them to take it down as it has my name on it. It's been used on someone's personal blog. Also a sunset. I then removed the tag from the photo as I also had someone call me from Europe to ask permission to use it as a website header.
well thats one more view by me! lol i sometimes see the last photos of an album show up, but nothing less than random otherwise, i dont tag my photos much though
Maybe there is a particular person who just loves that photo and starts each day with that as a focus for meditative thought. Heck, I don't know. But it IS a lovely image. And you're up by one more view now. :-)
I've had this happen before, several times in fact. They have been very ordinary photos and I still have no explanation as to why they happened. This one has 2595 views and I started a similar discussion on it when I noticed it. You'll notice it was from Feb 2011!!
And then there was this one with 2716 views. Only 3 comments though.
@kiwichick Just wondering Ron and Lesley if you have family or friends who regularly view your projects, they might have bookmarked these particular pages... other wise maybe gremlins
@kali66 That's a thought but would they have to be from a different computer to register as a new view? I'm not sure. Neither of those photos have shown up on my weekly top 10, or any others out of the ordinary.
@kali66@kiwichick - i know for sure that if you're not logged in or if you're not a member, and you view a photo, that registers as a new view. on the same computer, if you log off the internet and come back in and re-view that same photo, it registers as a new view. i just tried on both ron's and your first photo so your photos have more views now. sorry. :-)
If you want to see if someone has used it, you can Google for images. Go to images.google.com, drag and drop the image onto the search bar or you can click on the camera icon to upload an image. Google will search the internet for copies of it.
@kiwichick Holy cow, thousands of views!?! That is truly bizarre! Thanks for sharing your experience. Nice to know others experience the same strange experience.
@dbj_365 Thanks for that tip - I didn't realize you could do that! I did try it and got no matches though, so the mystery remains. Good to know that google offers such a service though.
