What is going on? All of a sudden random images from several years ago and with no discernible pattern are getting lots of views (but no comments) Has this happened to anyone else, and did you figure out why?
@vignouse 8000 - yikes!! I’m not quite at that stratospheric level... just 60 or so views in last 24 hours on a couple older not terribly spectacular shots, and 400 on another one... and smaller numbers on a few others that make no sense..
@joemuli go to your stats page... it’s one of the choices under “your project”... you’ll see number of views over last 24 hours and last 7 days... usually the high numbers are for recent posts... kinda odd when they’re for images posted 6 years ago!
We had a thread on this a few weeks back too - it turned out that some photos have been put onto someone's website as a link. Most were via a Chinese website and some were posted via this person onto Pinterest. If you want to stop that happening on any specific photos, you can go into edit on that picture and change its privacy from Public to Restricted. If you edit your followers list, you can choose who sees your restricted photos but it is limited to only those among your followers that you choose.
It depends how happy you are about having your images linked and placed on other websites. Some people don't mind, some people mind a lot.
@casablanca as soon as I change the privacy to restricted on the particular photos it starts happening to two other photos, etc, etc. I’ve just given up now
@kjarn I am going through all my old photos and restricting every one now. Then it is easier to keep an eye on only my current ones. Drives you nuts, doesn't it?
I am checking daily and if an old one gets viewed I restrict it. This cropped up a couple of weeks back and all Ross could advise was to set security settings so only followers you choose can see pics. Makes doing challenges etc possible though. @northy@kjarn
It would be nice to have more granular privacy options.
I'd love an extra option between public and restricted that is only viewable by someone logged into their 365 account ('community'?).
I'd also love a global option to change the settings on everything at once.
Not sure how practical either of those are to implement.
We take a chance every time we share online, but I wouldn’t change my habits just because others choose to do the wrong thing. I don’t think I have anything of value, if someone is that desperate for images that’s their problem. Just as long as they don’t steal my identity. It’s happening to my old images too, random photos not what I consider good images either.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I have no idea how to tell which photos are getting a lot of views - didn't even check the views until I read the recent discussion about this - it does seem I have a lot of daily views that don't seem right - I think I just worked it out hahaha
