It varies for me, it's normally something that makes me go "wow" in some way, or something that makes me chuckle or smile. That way, when I go back and look at them again, I'm guaranteed a mood lift :)
I Fav the one that I would like one day to accomplish myself... ideas and sheer beauty of the photograph itself. I take note of the technique used and learn from it.
The one that makes me stop and stare for a few minutes. The ones that make me want to look through the rest of their album. The ones I can only HOPE to one day capture myself.
I am too discerning I think because I have very few favs but for me its one that I want to look at again either to share with my Hubby and son, because I would like to recreate it, because I would like to look at it again or because its simply amazing!
I fav photos which make me stop and simply stare at them for their beauty and skill. I fav the ones which make me smile or laugh. I fave the ones which inspire me to improve my own skills. The main reason i fav is beacause I want to be able to see those photos again and again.
For some it's the wow factor. For some it's something I want to try one day, but not necessarily a photo idea. I fav'd this one because I wanted my own shoes lol.
And some I fav because they include information I want to be able to find easily. Like the recipe one this one.
I do not fav at all although there many picture here I love tremendously, many 'wow' pictures, many that inspire me and I would like to see again and would like to be able to take a picture that way one day. I prefer to comment on pictures I like.
The reason I do not fav is that I would like to avoid grading, comparing and completion. It is unavoidable anyhow, I know. I might change and make more fav and less comments on pictures I like because it is easier and I try to cut the time I spend on this site.
The photos I fav are usually the ones that I admire! They are the photos that I would love to take myself but haven't the equipment or know how. I also fav a lot of photos of places I'd like to go, bright colors, and cats :)
For me it's the best I've seen that week...or I want to show it to my kids or husband or I want to try it myself. If it's given me an idea then I will fav it...or it's just so amazing I simply MUST!
I fav either because I simply love the shot, generally photos that are my style, obviously, and shots that I would like to similarly acquire one day or try.
@yoelao I get what you are saying in relation to the whole grading and comparing. I never really thought of Fav'ing in that way. I saw it as another way to express to the photographer how much I like their photo. I think some times there just aren't the right words to describe how or why you like a photo. I'd rather Fav, than to leave a mediocre comment. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the comments I get on my photos and I know they aren't all Fav material. But there is something special about knowing someone took the time to Fav one of my photos and will over time keep going back to it. As someone completing my project using my iPhone, I find this such an honour that people find my photos WOW enough to keep on hand =)
For me it seems that the photos that I add to my favorite list fall into one of three categories, although there are a few randoms that I just like:
1. Editing Techniques that I find impressive. The last photo I added that fell into that category was by @aprilrss
2.Unique candy shots. I spent four years running a candy store so I'm easily drawn to candy shots. The last one I added from this category was: by @kmstudioart
3. Lastly, things that I have some sort of personal connection to. The last addition to this category was by @musicguy1982. I chose this one, as well as many others by Danny because the place in which he lives/works has been a big part of my life for a very long time and one day I hope to do what he does.
when i fav a photo, it is because i fell in love with it when i first saw it, it "wow"ed me, or it is something that i want to try. i like faving photos that make me feel something :)
My reasons are difficult to define and are different in almost every case. It has to be something that grabs me as out of the ordinary in some way. It could be the subject itself or the way it has been handled, but has to have either an obvious reason for being photographed, a story to tell, or the power to make me want to know more.
I fav many- MANY. I am in love with others' photos. I choose those that are especially beautiful, moving, dynamic, with a depth of image (not focus, necessarily : ) that gives me a lot to look at and consider, or provides some kind of visceral atmospheric sense. I love my favs! EVERY ONE!
I fav when it makes me go Wow.. or makes me giggle, also to let the person who took the photo, know they did a good job.
I'm probably missing out on lots and lots moreshame I don't have the time to look at everyones - there's just too many to keep up with haha. I do struggle to keep up with the people I'm following at times, I don't know how you manage it if you have lots and lots of followings :o|
Something that really pleases my eyes and desire of wanting it. Something that really inspired me and something that i know that it would be remarkable using it to whatever it may be.
@emmar84 what you said... lol! you summed it up for me beautifully...
"I fav photos which make me stop and simply stare at them for their beauty and skill. I fav the ones which make me smile or laugh. I fave the ones which inspire me to improve my own skills. The main reason i fav is beacause I want to be able to see those photos again and again."
The one that makes me stop and stare for a few minutes. The ones that make me want to look through the rest of their album (as nicole losise has said)
sometimes if one makes me laugh , i'll fav it ...... also if its an effect id like to try or a style of editing id like to use myself for something..
in short my favs are made up of the wow factor , fun factor and also a kind of "must remember to try this" as well :)
And Bon Jovi.
I love Bon Jovi.
Ones that make you keep staring at them or make you think, also ones that I add to my to do list or for inspiration when I'm in the creative desert.
I've stopped faving the WOW factor cos I would have all of @flamez's in there HeHe :-0
And some I fav because they include information I want to be able to find easily. Like the recipe one this one.
