Chiropractic Photos

March 25th, 2011
I recently began working as a Practice Representative and receptionist for a chiropractor. I do a lot of the marketing, and recruiting of new patients....as well as health fairs and screenings.

Naturally, I want to bring my photography into my job. I think it would be a nice way to get my photography out there to the general public. Its a win-win because I can market the practice with some photography and get my photography some publicity and have it out there.

So...my question is, what can I photograph?! Any ideas of how to capture chiropractic in a photograph? Without photographing patients, that is...

Things that could promote wellness and healthy living....spinal health.

Any ideas, thoughts, advice?!

Thanks in advance!! :)

anything around the office make it look like a ad you would see for chiropractic. adding warmth and making it look like a inviting environment :)

as a regular visitor to the chropractor I'd want to see an image of what i can do when I'm fixed up. So, i'm a keen athlete, when my back is bad I can't run or swim or mountaineer. Seeing pictures that portray strong postured people in these environments gives me the image of wellbeing and the vision of what I can do when I'm fixed! here's a selfie I took last night link which is the sort of thing which might be cool

X-ray shots would be cool if your practice does them, also the "table" could be really neat, with adjusted lighting...maybe a non-face shot of someone doing yoga excersizes, or if you wanted to be a little metaphoric you could show a board (or any other straight non-flexible item) bending to its breaking point...a back view of an older person w/ a small child....those are some things that come to my mind....
Don't know if this will help, but maybe you can get an idea from it: I saw a poster of an Iceberg on the wall at my mom's chiropractor office, it showed the tip on top of the water and a whole lot more underneath. The captioning was about how a lot of times you can only see the surface of the problem, it was so insipiring...made me want to get an adjustment! LOL

Just remember HIPAA (if in the US...), you'll have to obtain permission to take photos of any real patient having any procedure done. Like a written, signed paper explaining how the photographs will be used and what not. Anything medical is just iffy when it comes to photography!

Sounds like an interesting project, though!

@relicsong @vvpe @sparkle @tx_mendoza @hmgphotos Thanks everyone for all the ideas! Veronica, great link!!! thank you :) and Juliette, your selfie is super! i like those ideas! Heidi, thanks! i had to learn all the HIPAA stuff in orientation...one of the reasons i want non-patient ideas...although, i think some patients would definitely sign a paper.
Thanks all! :)
