I wanted more than my followers to see this. It is quite the thing. There are many more clouds of these little fly type bugs. They last for a few days then gone. I am sure glad they don't bite. Does anyone out there know what they are?
AHH I know what little bug things you're talking about! Well maybe, we have this kind of thing, just not as many..ours are kind of like little gnats. I don't know what exactly they are though..sorry!
Those are so gross. When I used to play soccer and baseball (as a kid), they'd fly around my head constantly, so I'd spend more time whacking them away than paying attention to the game. Never that many, though, thankfully!
Since you are near a large body of water I would guess they are Chironomid Midges. They emerge en masse to form these mating swarms, lay eggs and die. They don't feed as adults but can be so numerous that they can form drifts under streetlights and make being outside miserable. The other aquatic insects that have similar large emergences are mayflies.
