Omg where I have I been? I have discovered back button focus and I can say it has changed my life! I officially LOVE it!
Since buying my Canon 7D, i've found it a challenge wrangling the auto focus on this thing, well not anymore! I've switched off the shutter auto focus, my camera no longer focus's when I half press the shutter button, AND it no longer continually searches for a focus point! You simply compose, press the back button focus which locks it in, and it even tracks your subject as long as your remain the same distance from it!
Oh now I get it! Thanks a bunch..I have a Nikon.. but I think I know what you are talking about..in english terms said like that makes more sense! Thanks! Happy You are happy! .LOL> no more challenging focus!
I'm trying to get used to this myself (i'm on an Olympus Pen, i think it's Mode 3 for the AF Mode) - so far i've still got AF firing on the shutter, but i press a button to switch to MF then carry on shooting so i don't have to wait for the AF again. Next i'll move to pure BBF I think!
@triptych_angel Holy cow, Emma! I am going to have to use this! I experience the same thing (like on my bee shot yesterday) and I am going to have to try this on my Canon 60D! Thank you so much!!
