I'm away at school and have been struggling to find unique things to photograph every day. I feel like I need some inspiration...Any ideas? What's your favorite subject to photograph?
@hannahferrari21 Well I used to answer that with a simple architecture. Now I love so many more things. I just love to go for walks and see what ever I see and I just start takeing pictures of anything and then look at them afterwards and many times I find some great shots
You don't have to have a unique subject each day. I often take a picture of the same area or subject, but get a very different image because of the time of day or other conditions. I know I have 'too many' pictures of the same three species of birds, but I like them all, and they are different from each other. Some day I will take a picture that is the one I'm really trying to get, but until that happens, I don't mind if my pictures repeat subjects.
I take pictures of all kinds of things and all kinds of pictures. Sometimes they're just snaps of an average day- like the back of my car full of groceries. Other times they're something I'm doing- taking the car through the car wash. I've taken nature shots- landscapes and close-ups of plants, birds, mushrooms, even birds on my feeder. I've taken pictures of silly things-purple flamingo with bubbles- and artistic things- still life, portrait and more. I've done color, sepia and black and white and I could go on and on- but you get the picture (oh- bad pun- not intended!) So it's not so much what as it is how- how do you find something each day. It's a simple answer, but takes time to develop: keep your eyes open. Take a walk. Ask friends to give you an assignment. Give yourself an assignment (one time I was sitting in the car waiting for a friend and I said to myself- how many things can you photograph in the car in 30 seconds?) Also- look at other photos for inspiration. But most of all have fun- don't make it a burden.
I take a lot of people pictures, especially small children. Ironic, because I really am uncomfortable around people when I'm not hiding behind my camera.
Other favorite subjects (though they may not make it on here often) are knitting/yarn, and anything I can take pictures of while lying on the ground - storm drains, grass, bugs, whatever.
Everything, and above all, the subjects I didn't explore yet due to lack of time or opportunity. Whatever the subject, I love playing with natural light. This won't help you much for inspiration, but perhaps you could try looking at familiar things differently, under a different light or angle. Working at home + taking care of my kid, I don't have as many opportunities to go out as I would like, so I often have to fing new ideas with surrounding subjects, in my garden, house.
Outside of 365, my favourite subjects are nature and architecture. Here, though, I'm forcing myself to expore any and all subjects possible. I've found it helpful to plan a weekly theme for myself (which I don't always follow strictly). It helps me focus; sometimes, if you leave "the entire known universe" as your potential subject, you can become overwhelmed and end up with a creative block.
Looking at your project, you might try a week of "Candy corn figure fun", putting them into different situations (an exercise in macro photography), or "A week of leaves", especially if you live in the northern hemisphere in a place where leaves are starting to change colours (an exercise in nature photography/creative lighting)... The possibilities are endless; just whatever interests you and helps you stay focused.
Take your camera ever where you go and I am sure you are bound to find something to snap a photo of. When I finally get my new camera, this is what I plan to do. If you don't have your camera with you at all times, you may be missing out on some good photos.
Local themed things, since the website is world wide I think local feel things are interesting to people, so find your local landmarks, be a tourest in your own city, visit other cities near you, eat local dishes in restaurants etc etc. Good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! It was really helpful!
And @gurry, I love your kitten pictures!
@cherne Great idea! I've actually been doing that a lot lately. You never know when you'll come across something photo worthy :)
