Aspiring wedding photogs: look here

September 22nd, 2011
Photojojo, bless their cotton socks, have a current discount code for BP4U (posing guides, templates, Photoshop actions etc) that gives 90% off. Yeah, that's a lot. I usually avoid this stuff like the proverbial, because it tends to be rather formulaic, but the whole 90% off thing inspired me to take a look.

Well, it is formulaic for the most part. But there are some gems in there. If any of you struggle with how to pose and direct your subjects, you may very well find some good info here. For example, the "Complete Collection" that includes posing for weddings, engagements, etc as well as some solid business tips would normally sell for (guessing here) around $400 if you bought it all individually. It packages for near $250. Apply discount, and it is $25. It includes PDF files with some good instructional stuff, as well as printable cards you can carry with you so that you can refer to them for posing when you get stuck. Heck, you could even stick them on your iPhone (that's what I do with photos of poses I like).

It is what it is - I'm not recommending it as such - but there is definitely some useful stuff in there.

Anyway, the code is just 'photojojo' if anyone is interested, and is valid for 24 hours from whenever the email was sent out (an hour ago maybe?), so could be worth checking out. You can pay with Paypal, too, which seems nice.

And while you're at it, sign up to Photojojo for random, curious emails with a lot of DIY stuff.

Don't say I don't love you guys.

Thank you for sharing this! I've done 2 weddings as assisting and about to assist another. Posing is definitely by weak point

@jinximages
Thanks! I skipped the poses part for now, but I did get the photoshop actions and enjoyed playing around with them last night.
