Online Courses?

Can anyone suggest any good online photography courses?

Myself and a friend who isn't on 365 have both been wanting to do a course to get better, but the college courses here in Milton Keynes are so expensive!

Any guidance would be great! Thank you for reading :)

The best of the best, imo is www.kelbytraining.com
You get a year of access to their video courses and you can chat with instructors for help.
His books are amazing and teach top notch professional quality.
I've been to almost every online school, and that one is the ultimate.
I'm still enrolled there, they offer photoshop, video, various cameras, lots of advanced processing techniques.

wephotoschool.com has a very inexpensive deal per month basis to access their projects, and are actually imo better than any instructor led slow pace couses if you want the bare bones stuff.

One thing I highly recommend you to learn on your own, if you don't know,
is how to shoot in manual mode.

Youtube your camera model and Manual.

All pro photographers almost always shoot in manual, I saw on a photography documentary.

I took an exposure class,
but after the first week, I learned it in a few minutes.
It was something I could've learned from my book,
the exercises were redundant after that.

So once you know manual, you are set!
I think thats why most pro photographers are self taught.
Once they know the camera, the rest is independent exploration.

On my canons, setting manual and setting "Exposure and aperture" is almost all the same...

I set dial to manual,
and then make sure the "exposure meter" is centered.
sometimes I make it a little brighter by turning the dial to the right.

I select aperture 22 or higher on various lenses if I want full focus.

I use average f/22 for stock because they prefer it over selective focus!

For portraits, I love f/1.8 because it creates dreamy background...

And don't forget to set the lens to manual for best results when shooting in manual!

In one of my courses they had us take the same photo,
at 3 f/stops and 3 exposures.

It taught us how to get the correct exposure everytime.

So when I submit stock photos, I'm at 100% approval by editors to sell my downloads.

Before that I was using my dslr as a point and shoot on auto everything and my stock approval was less than 70% approval!

And one more basic thing they teach in those expensive classes is
ISO: 100 is for stills. 400 average for portraits. And higher for action.

They don't teach the basic on shooting in manual in almost all courses!
They expect you to know..
I only knew of one course online who taught it at ppsop, understanding exposure.

but like I said you can do it yourself. BUT, its also probably the most important the thing you need to know! Expect studio lighting... webphotoschool really gets into that the most!!! so if you need lighting support thats the site you want!!!!

I'm here to help if youw need me!

Whilst not a course, I have found some useful things on

Also not a course but free tutorials on learning photography from shutter speed to aperture to understanding how to shoot in manual. You learn at your own speed by replaying the videos until you get it. He has about 25 tutorials you can learn from for free. Good luck http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=CA#/watch?v=3833CgvK7MU
