i'm looking into buying a Nikon D90 package, i was wondering if anyone here uses one. and if anyone has any good or bad things to say about the camera or issues they've found or anything of the sort. i am finally ready to move up from a bridge camera. also any suggestions for a different camera?

We got our D90 a couple of months ago and absolutely love it! It's tried and tested, the model has been around for quite a long time. We used to have a Canon Powershot, and when that blew up (literally) we upgraded to a DSLR. With our package we got a 18-105mm lens, which is very versatile, and recently we added a 50mm f1.8 lens which is a great addition for us. Highly recommended!

I bought the D90 body alone and the lenses separately. At that time (a bit more than 1 and a half year ago) I didn't like the quality of the lens provided with packages, but I don't know what is sold now. About the D90, I just love it and don't regret it at all!

I just jumped staight into a D90 after borrowing a D70 for a few months. I bought it christmas day last year on ebay, yes it is second hand but in a 'like new' condition. I also bought the body separately from my lens (which I had to get to borrow the D70). For me it was the way to go as I didnt have the money to get the 'package'
I love it, there is so much it can do and I am still learning, but after adapting a handbag I carry it everywhere I go. I wouldn't change to anything else now. I have tried other Nikon's but they don't feel right.
I like the size of the screen on the back, I wear glasses for reading and have found that I dont need them with the D90. For me it is perfect. 99% of my pics on here are with the D90. I have a 18-105mm and a 50mm f1.8 lens too and havent really found I need anything else. I would love a macro lens but cant afford one.
I would say if you are not sure, see if someone will lend you a D90 for a couple of days.
good luck :-)

I have used a D90 for about three years now and LOVE it! In my book, you can't go wrong with it!

I've had my D90 for about 2 1/2 years and I love it! I bought it with the 18-55 kit lens, and though I don't prefer it - the lens still gets used on occasion. I prefer the 50mm, 24-70 and 14-24 :)

I use a D90 and love it! my biggest downfalls are its size - i am a neanderthal and have larger hands. I have added a rubber housing, battery pack to hold 2 batteries and a hand strap, and it has made a world of difference. you will have a blast with it.

LOVE mine!!!

I love mine too, great camera. It is a bit large and heavy. I personally like that, but some wouldn't. The D7000 is a step up. If the price wasn't that different I would go with the D7000. Not sure what the kit lens is. I'm not crazy about my friend's 18-105mm, but the 18-200mm is fantastic.

unfortuantly price is what is limiting me or i would go to the D7000. i am going to use my left over college money *shame on me!!* which should be about 1k that is enough for the body. to of the nikkor lens and a few macro lens which i am so thrilled about! i love macro photography

Great decision. It was the best Nikon made for the money, until the D7000 came out. But, the D90 is extremely awesome. Recommended to many. No one has complained done bit.

this is def my camera of choice when the funds come around for me to upgrade....i probably should have just purchased it from the get go, but i couldn't justify spending the extra money...but now that i see how much i'm actually using my camera, it would have been worth it

the D90 is my one and only camera (with the exception of my samsung mobile). It is my first dslr on my foray into photography and i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!. It has enough automation to guide the beginner through and heaps and heaps of quick manual control (with the two control dials) if you are inclined to take a leading role in snapping shots. Great camera that grows with the photographer in my opinion, i can see myself using it for a long long time and i know quite a few pros who still use theirs as a backup.

P.S. don't fall for the megapixel trap when comparing cameras of similar price range. 12MP is more than you'll ever need unless you plan on printing photos larger than A3.
