I submitted three of my images to the upcoming Orange County Fair Photography Competition here in Costa Mesa, CA, and one of them was accepted for display at the fair!! :)
I haven't won anything yet, but at least I have a chance now to win a ribbon, and perhaps even a chance that someone might even buy the print! :) It may not be much, but it is a start!
Here is the pic that got their attention...You all have already seen it as one of my 365 pics.
Maybe I should have had an idea that this pic might do well when I won a Picture of the Day at PhotographyVoice.com...
Congrats, this image really is dynamic with all the lines and shapes, I get the sense of movement from a building. you gave this inanimate object life.
Congrats!!! That is fantastic! I had actually planned to submit for the CA State Fair but because they moved the dates up this year I missed the submission deadline. =\ Maybe next year. =)
Awesome Alex. Congrats. I won a contest with the Department Natural Resources in 2009. My work was displayed in the Capitol. It was one of the happiest moments in my life. And I shot the picture with a cell phone camera of all things! You should be very proud!
Thanks, everyone for your neat comments! I had my photo professionally framed according to the rigid specifications set down by the judging committee. I didn't quite agree that all mats have to be white with black frames, but I guess I have to understand that they want a uniform look no matter what the color scheme the photo has. They also don't want glass panes, they want plexiglass (that adds $30 to the framing cost), and they want specific hanging wire along with a simple black frame. After paying the framer (sheesh $$$$$), I can understand why framed photos go for so much money! I sure hope that someone decides to buy it! hahah
Congratulations!
Now I must go and look at it's original posting!
Congratulations - hope you get a ribbon! :)
