This started off as a thread in the General category in which I was looking for suggestions of words that I could use as a challenge for June since I've reached the point where I feel I'm either just taking the same pictures over and over or just have no idea what to shoot. I didn't expect such an overwhelming list of words! Since some people stated they wanted to give the challenge a go themselves in that thread, I am posting the final list here as the "June Word Challenge" for anyone and everyone that needs ideas.
I used random.org to enter all the words and then have it generate the list in random order and used the first 15 words that came up... .so here's the list:
Here are the rules I set for myself for this challenge:
1. The shots can be done anytime between June 1st and June 30th but must be uploaded by midnight EST June 30th to be "official"
2. They do not have to be done in any particular order
3. Tag all images as "june-word"
4. Have fun and don't stress!
I am posting the list a week early because this is a pretty challenging list and will require time to really think about some of the harder words and how to pull them off. If you wish to participate with me, feel free to follow the rules I set for myself and tag the images "june-word"
@jonesp okay, but I'm going to try to find a way to pull it off, even if it something completely not what you're thinking of ;)
@edie they can be posted in any album... that's why I came up with the tag. For people that aren't ace members, they only have one album, but if you want to upload them to a different album and save your 365 album for other shots, that's cool.
@maggiemae@magentarose@cmc1200 I'm not going to promise I'll succeed at capturing all of them, but at least its enough ideas to get me thinking and doing something different.
cool idea......i've still got about a butt-zillion pics from my Japan trip that i want to get posted.....so i won't participate....but will have fun "watching"! lol
Not a list I would have chosen manually either, but that just makes it more interesting I guess! Some of these sound very tricky at first glance, but I say that every month when I see my new photo scavenger hunt list, which is a similar thing, and I've always managed that!
I'm going to make a note of these and try to join in but I'm not sure I'll manage all of them. Sea is a very hard one for me too, but I'm sure I could think of something if I try.
Thanks for arranging this, it's good to have some inspiration!
@olivetreeann There are times I encounter something that I must photograph, and I don't want to not upload it just because it doesn't fit a word in a challenge, so I don't want a word for every day.
Jeff, this sounds like a great project. I will attempt to get these shots. I am going to put the word for that picture in the desscription because I title my pictures with the date they are posted for. I hope others will enjoy this project also.
This is really cool. Now that I have already posted more than a year's worth of photos in my 365, I think that a new challenge like this is like a breath of fresh air, and must I say, a new challenge. I will definitely join! :D
@jsw0109 Oh, this sounds very interesting, Jeff. I know I can nail some of these in my daily surroundings, so my real challenge is what to do about the others. I need a challenge, so thanks for putting this one together.
@sandier on the right hand side of your page where your photo is you'll see a thing that says share and some options under that. What you want to do is copy the code in the rectangular box and then paste it in the reply box here
flam·boy·ant (flm-boint)
adj.
1. Highly elaborate; ornate.
2. Richly colored; resplendent.
3. Architecture Of, relating to, or having wavy lines and flamelike forms characteristic of 15th- and 16th-century French Gothic architecture.
4. Given to ostentatious or audacious display.
@jsw0109 Do we need to post the pictures on this thread or do you search tags "june-word"? I have been working on this porject and find interpretation of the word to have many aspects resulting in many pictures, not a bad thing. Thank you for letting us participate with you this month.
at least I've got 4 for this so far: sidekick, inspiration, magical & fragrance. not good with posting images yet [plus being a newbie to this] so my photos are on my page to view.
was going to leave the bonus word 'Supercalafragilisticexpialidocious' till last but todays the day - I put a link to youtube in the description
only got euphoria, whimsical and flamboyant left to do
I've been thinking about my last few words and looking to see if I can attach any word to what I already have in my project this month.... do you think I can tag this photo for whimsical?
it's the annual village scarecrow festival... quaint, amusing... does it fit or am I taking too much 'artistic license' there?!
I live about as far from the sea as it's possible to be in the UK so I have to cheat with my sea photo!
These hills were the sea bed 350 million years ago, the shape remains unchanged (so a geologist tells me) - this is as close as I can get to 'sea' without spending time fossil hunting for sea creature
two days left and I just have to do euphoria now! I'm surprised as many of the words seemed tricky at the start and I really didn't think I'd manage all or even all but one!
@jsw0109 Jeff, are going to do this monthly-word for July? I found it to be rewarding to be creative with the words. Using 12-15 words was great. I also liked that we could post any word at anytime in the month. I would like to suggest two words for consideratin for July-- fluffy and noisy.
Wanted to tag people from the original thread to make this one easy to find

In a house of adults, this is truly whimsical.

@wenbow that is a gorgeous shot!
