5 Step Challenge 8!!!

July 27th, 2012
Here is the new challenge to practice basic processing skills for your digital photos. A photo is provided and you will use a total of five processing steps (i.e. crop, contrast, saturation, clone, etc.) to put your own touch on it. Please list the editing steps you used.

A group of finalists will be selected at 20:00/8.00pm Thursday, August 2nd AEST (10:00am Thursday GMT) and submitted for voting. The winner will host the next challenge.

The easiest way to copy the photo for your own use: right click on photo, choose "save photo as" & save to my computer -- then edit and upload it as a daily photo in your project. You can then post your edited photo and 5 steps in this discussion thread.

Please tag your photo: 5stepchallenge-8

Powerlines can make interesting photos to work with. Have fun!

I have a question.
I see the reason for the challenge is to use basic processing steps (i.e. crop, contrast, saturation, clone, etc.). It seems a lot of the processing taking place in this series of challenges is turning into special effects more than basic processing.
It seems there is the WWYD challenge where a lot of effects editing is going on.

Anyway, any thoughts as to if these 5 step challenges should remain as basic processing challenges, or ok to change it to effects editing as well?

I realize the effects editing has already taken hold to some extent in this series, so just wondering if this series should remain basic editing instead.

I'm ok with the effects if that's the direction this challenge is going to go.

@mikehamm I understand what you mean but I believe the only rule is that it has to be edited in only 5 ways. I don't make the rules though. I just hosted. I don't know who create the first challenge. Perhaps, we need their opinion. I personally like the special effects... as long as it is done within 5 steps. But it would be good to know what others think.

@magentarose - Megan, no worries. Definitely not intended to single you out. I know you are just the host. More a question for everyone. Some had commented in the first one that they were intimidated by the wwyd challenges and that this series of challenges would be simpler(?). It appears Paula Brumbe did the first challenge so I've tagged her here. Maybe she can provide further clarification. @brumbe.
