One of My faverate things to do is jump into my car go for a drive and make as many stops and take as many photos as I can. But here is the rub.. once you have finished your drive, You have to pick one and one only of all the pictures you have taken that day then deleate all the others no exceptions!!...I find it very hard to delete my photos and found this way it was fun to let some go added with the thrill of picking just one.its scary stuff do you have the guts...:-)
I found that I had hundreds of photos good and bad on my computer and hard drives. I never deleted any!! I did not have the heart.. This way it forced me t o prioritise and think about what I was shooting and made me want to do better and savour each shot....dont get me wrong I still go out and keep most of my shots but I found doing this it helped me to let go of some so I was able to appresiate the ones that realy deserved it.. @welcometocarolworld
i understand your dilemma, Mark. some days i take 30 pictures and i'm not happy with any of them. some days i take only 10 and i like them all. i'm trying to stay true to the vision of this website, though, and post one that i take that day and delete the others. having said that, i need to stay true to what i profess and go back into my photo files right now and do that very thing!
I delete a lot of photos as well (otherwise the clutter is too dreadful) but I will never delete a good shot that is not a duplicate! So no matter how many photos I take in a day, I save all the good and original ones and trash the rest. I often go back to the others on days I don't have time for photographer and use them as fillers.
I only delete photos that are poor or I don't like. I've gone for a couple of photo drives this week and I post one for each day whether I took only one or fifty! Out of whatever is left, I keep what I like and delete what I don't. Given the age we are in tech wise, I see no reason to delete images that I like... I have 1.5 TB of storage and hard drives are getting bigger and cheaper so I don't think space will ever be a problem.
@eniaral@victorypuzzle I must admit I,m a photo junkie and I find it hard to even to delete the blury nondiscript shots that are no good for man nor beast...lol I love going back to old sooc photos that I have duplicates of and editing them as I learn new tricks...I suppose if Im going to have a vice this ones not too bad..:-)
I also will only delete photos I don't like and I guess I go with some others on here who's philosophy is "Your project, your rules" so if I have several shots I like that I took in one day, I will use more than one of them on here.
I guess for me, I just love taking pictures and trying to learn and improve and also I just like sharing them, so I try not to worry about having to take the picture the same day to post them.
Another fun challenge is to stand at an intersection and not move, like in a small downtown. You can choose the challenge: find something that is super fast and be quick triggered, or something unique. Like an ambulance going by, you only get one shot, so get it right! I like your drive by idea, but is gas worth just one shot! That's hard!
I delete obvious blurry pictures or duplicates now because they are not usable. I used to keep them as proof I was there or saw something, but it's not like I can use them. But you need a decent system of organization that you can find pictures when your count is 10s or 100s of thousands large. And sales on harddrives!
I'm a deleter. i don't need 1000's of pictures on my computer. On a recent trip to Colorado, I took 800 photos. I saved only 110. No worries. Delete Delete Delete.

But, I guess it's whatever works for you.
