Thank you everyone that participated in this terrific artist challenge. Edward Weston has been a favorite photographer of mine for quite some time. It has warmed my heart to see you take up this challenge and knock it out of the park. I could tell how many of you really studied his art and tried to recreate his lighting and posing, not an easy task. Please if you have a minute or two please look at all the entries they are terrific, http://365project.org/tags/ac-weston
I like hosting these challenges but I must admit I do not like having to pick 5 photos to vote on, but that is what I must do. I am going to going to pick 6 because I really couldn't narrow it down to 5. I picked 1 each to represent portraits, nudes, architecture & food. Landscapes I needed to pick 2 because I couldn't decide. You are all winners in my book, You really did a terrific job.
So now the rest is up to you! Here you go in no particular order, please vote on your favorite photo that best represents the Edward Weston style.
Voting starts now and will end on Friday March 1st at 12:00 am EST. the winner has the honor of setting the next challenge.
Good luck!
6 (because shooting barns is my thing and it was much more difficult than I thought it would be to shoot it like Weston, but I took great care in studying his barns so that I could nail it)
@sunshinephoto5 Wow! I am thrilled to be among the finalists in my first ever Artist Challenge. It feels good to be recognized for my effort. I confess I did not know who Edward Weston was until this challenge, and after lots of Google image peeking and perusing library books of his I am now a big fan. That's one of the many great things about this 365 community -- learning from one another. Dawn, thanks for picking my Downed Tree - Weston Style as a finalist.
Dawn - thanks for selecting me for the top 6. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and am honoured to be selected given the incredible pictures I've seen in the last few weeks. Picking one from above is a tough ask - but for the use of really interesting textures, enhanced by the lighting I put my cross against :
