Great job to everyone who participated! They were all fabulous photo's and really fun to look through. I hope you all had fun playing with this mode and it got you a little more familiar with your camera:)
For those of you voting there is a link to the challenge below for more info on the challenge. We were playing with AF mode AI servo or AF.C AF.S which is an option on your camera to get better focus of moving objects.
3 because of capturing the bubbles and still having a strong sense of portrait. The two are so different in settings!
So many great choices, it's hard to decide, though.
@colie I am honored to have my collage of bluebirds be included in the top 5 ! Thanks so much, but even to me it looks out of place amongst these other terrific captures. : )
@darylo a big "thank-you" for telling me about this challenge.
Your project and fabulous images are a daily inspiration to me. xo
Good luck to all, ......and this is a tough decision.....
#5 gets my vote..... because not only is it an excellent photo, and tack sharp focus on the birds head and eye, I understand the difficulty of the shot and the necessity of al servo ......
Thank you so much @colie for hosting the challenge. Although I didn't participate (I planned on it but time slipped by too quickly) I will do some playing & experimenting with it.
Have been out of town...voted by iPad....but wanted to say "Thanks" for choosing my photo as one of the top 5! This challenge made me get out and try it and play with it....and now when I am shooting birds AI Servo is almost always in use!!!
@lynnb Great going Lynn. Very useful for birds that might swoop and climb in any direction, shot at ranges less than "infinity." You did remember to turn OFF any Image Stabilization when panning, right?
Birds move very swiftly, even when eating like in the shot I posted(#2) so I always use Al Servo when shooting them.
@colie...Excited and appreciative to have mine in the top 5!
@frankhymus I know for my shot, I provided the following info in the narrative: "It's very windy today, so I decided to see if using AI Servo might work with a flower in movement, petals flying, with a bug on it." The flower was pretty mobile and on a very thin stalk. Luckily, the setting helped keep it in focus--didn't always work. Hope that helps.
@frankhymus I have to agree... for me the only one where AI-Servo would have been crucial for the shot is #5...
So 5 gets my vote!
Not saying they aren't all beautifully captured photos - just my opinion that 5 answers the challenge best - continued focus on a rapidly-moving subject.
@myhrhelper thank you for setting it up and supplying all of the links and being so supportive! I learned a lot about this function and find myself using it a lot now!
