This is for the New Artist Challenge #60 - Diane Arbus
This was an extremely difficult challenge! I believe Diane Arbus' work was pushing the envelope, and remains difficult even now for many to understand. I've spent hours on this challenge and it was very hard to pick the top five images to vote on. I want to thank everyone who participated, and thanks in advance for voting!
I rented and watched the movie Fur (Film about her in 2006 staring Nicole Kidman, Robert Downey, Jr., Wiki Fur). My only contribution to the challenge was a transition short video - Short Fur Video
As a reminder, Diane Arbus was an American photographer and writer noted for black-and-white square photographs of "deviant and marginal people or of people whose normality seems ugly or surreal."
Picture Correct has her listed number 3 on the top 10 photographers every student should study right behind Ansel Adams: Top 10 to Study
Here are the top five images in no particular order:
Number 1: Marginal Mimi by Carol W (@sturnus)
Number 2: His Reflection by Nicole Stewart (@colie)
Number 3: Self Portrait 21013 by Tabitha Hobbins (@tabbycat)
Number 4: Lion Boy by Nicole Stewart (@colie)
Number 5: Masked child with baby doll by Donna (@seahawker)
Voting will last until Thu evening Oct 3 7pm Pacific.
