This is a thread for black and white photography. We are onto the fourth fortnight now. This fortnight we shall look at architecture. For the first fortnight we shall look at the "big picture" as I will call it, in another fortnight we shall we return to architecture and do the "small picture". So what is the "big picture"? By this I mean large scale view of buildings, buildings where we can see them in their context. The building can be your own choice.... Offices, schools, houses, shops, churches, restaurants... they can be old, new, modern, traditional... What then is the "small picture"? By that I mean the details that build up and make the buildings around us. The doors, the locks, windows, bricks, the roof tiles etc etc.... For this fortnight I'd like us to do the first and do the big picture.
Same as last fortnight if this fortnights theme isn't for you please do have a look next time, the themes will be varied in the hope to inspire, challenge and get us thinking and photographing the world around us.
The tag this fortnight will be bw-fn-4. The fortnight starts now and will end on Sunday 13th July 2014.
Any questions just ask. Want to be tagged and you're not. Just ask. Other that only thing lefty to say is Enjoy.
@northy yep, show us the whole structure... Save the small details of bridges for the second time round. Basically want to see architecture in its setting rather than the small details. The architecture itself can be small. That make sense?
Thanks so much for organizing this theme. I am back at taking photos daily and hope to actually participate this time around.
Now - to pick a building from all the amazing, historic ones we have here!
First time I have come across this challenge. I have started taking a greater interest in black and white photography this year so I expect I will be participating frequently. Wasn't sure if sharing on here was expected but if not then please feel free to remove it! =)
@newbank Looking forward to this one - hope I can get out to take some as we have some very interesting building where I live. WISH I could have done more for last fortnight but was feeling so poorly - thank heavens I am much much better!
Here is a first shot. You asked to be able to see the building "in it's context." I'm afraid that here I may have the building being overtaken by it's surroundings but I felt to get the feel you needed to have a wide view to show how it is sort of stranded in the middle of nothing.
Well here is my contribution, really looking forward to taking a few more - and then getting in on all those wonderful details in 2 weeks time! Thanks for a great theme :)
@ziggy75 Go the picture you'd like to put up here, click on the three dots ... , that will bring up a box with a long piece of code in it, copy the code, come back here, paste the code in a new comment (until you press post it will just look like a long line of wriritng) post comment and image you should come up. In the tag section of your photo write bw-fn-4 and it will be linked to the others from this theme too. That make sense?

Here's my contribution to Black & White Fortnight Architecture. This is the "big picture" view of the carillon at one of our public gardens. Built in the mid-1920s and the bells still play.
Thanks so much for organizing this! Hope to participate.
