Yikes, what's this? It's an Ad! An abstract Ad!

March 22nd, 2017

Well, an announcement really! After much consultation with experienced 365ers a few exciting changes have been made to the Abstract Mundane challenge.

One interesting change is that entrants in the plain Mundane Challenge are now encouraged to use their original photo as a starting point, have some editing fun, and enter their modified (no longer so mundane!!) image in the Abstract Mundane Challenge.

The Abstract Mundane Challenge finishes on 31st March.

For more ideas and info please check out the Abstract Mundane Challenge.

Thanks for taking the time to read this little ad!

So, basically the abstract challenge is now an editing challenge?

@homeschoolmom I don't read this that way -- and, although I didn't get all the way through the thread @wenbow references, I didn't get that sense from that either. I think you can submit a photo that is abstract from the get-go, either SOOC, or edited -- even ETSOOI I think what is being said here is that if a person WANTS to take the photo they submitted to the mundane challenge and ETSOOI until it is abstracted, that will be OK and considered a different image (which IMO it is). It may have been OK all along, but because the same image can't be submitted to both, many people wouldn't have felt free or encouraged to play with the original mundane pic to produce an abstract. @robz Please correct me if I'm wrong.

@mcsiegle Oh, that makes more sense.

@homeschoolmom @mcsiegle Hi Lisa and Mary Thanks for you comments. Lisa - Mary has answered your question perfectly. The ieda was to encourage more people to move from the plain into the abstract strand. The basic premise of the abstract strand has not changed at all. However, it has been reworded to try to encourage more people to have a go - either editing their plain or playing with their compositions etc on their unedited images. The idea was to be more informative with the intro and to try to link the 2 strands together.
@wenbow Thanks Wendy for putting up the link - could you please tell me how to do this. I tried to just copy and pasting the URL but had no success. Cheers Rob Z

@homeschoolmom Sorry Lisa - I didn't see your second response - must have been typing.

Abstract describes the final product; any way you get there is fine.

@wenbow OK!! Too easy - once you told me how!! Haha!! Thanks for the help - and for the offer of help too. I'm assuming the discussion - general section is the appropriate place to ask about a problem? Thanks again. Cheers Rob Z

@robz General for general, Themes for themes, your next win will be easier now

@wenbow Wow Wendy - such confidence! The last win was an accident - as you can see I didn't even know the meaning of the term Abstract. It's all lots of fun anyway and I have learnt a lot. Thanks again. Cheers Rob Z
