Wow, I am so stunned to have won thanks to Jaydee, I would have never entered. Thank you all for your votes and for all of your comments over the year. Really means so much to me and has kept me motivated and eager to learn.
Wendy Chapman told me to check out a street photographer. That day, I googled her and everything changed for me. Being the gritty street lover that I am.... I wanted to see what all you guys come up with. I hope you are as inspired as i was by: Vivian Maier.
Vivian Maier, was a street photographer from the 1950s - 1990s. Vivian's work was discovered at an auction in Chicago where she lived most of her life. It is such a shame that she was not around to experience the impact and power of her work.
Please click on the link to see her amazing work and have fun...I hope you become as inspired as I was when i saw this blog. Please check out her people shots....
If I knew how to past photos on here that i did not post on my project, I would...maybe someone can help me and add the photos for me. Sorry, kind of technically challenged. :)
Sorry, please tag your photo "Artist Challenge Maier" contest ends this Friday, June 10th @ 12 midnight.
Congrats on your well-deserved win. It was a stunning photo! This looks to be an interesting choice for the artist. I may have to pass since I have an aversion to leaving my house (sorta joking!) and my area's not well-suited for street photography. We've got more strip malls than cute downtown areas and I'm so shy that I'm not a fan of photographing strangers. Still, if the inspiration comes to me to I'll give it a whirl and I'm eager to see what everyone else comes up with.
@robinwarner here ya are ladybug!! This is the way to do it also: you paste in this code...

Also, here's her website: such a great gallery in there! WOW!! VivianMaier.com
oh and GREAT choice btw!! I'm going to participate, but I'm so scared haha!! I am nowhere near as bold as you to do these street photos. But I'm gonna give it a shot
@amyhughes thanks Amy...i encourage everyone to check out her people shots too they are intense...i still can't figure out the posting...but when i get home, i will try it
@robinwarner My dear you won! Yehhh! How cool is that? Congratulations and they don't call you a queen for nothing!
I can't wait to participate on a challenge hosted by you, is going to have a whole new meaning.
@robinwarner Trust me I am really happy for you, and you know a little how I feel about challenges, winning is sweet, but participating and having freedom to do what we want, priceless. I can't wait to read about Vivian Maier, taking some time to see her work and star shooting.
Congratulations Robin! I'm going to check out Vivian Maier's work, but from the shots posted above, it looks like it's going to be a great theme week! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Great artist choice RW!
cool choice.. read about her earlier this year,.. what an amazing women she is... will try and give this a try.. most often get animals not people where I live...lol
although some people will have you believe animals are people too... heehehe
Congratulations Robin. It was a great photo! I loved it. One day I'd like to have a go at these artist challenges. Although maybe this isn't the best for me to start with, still being a little too timid to photograph strangers! But I'm ever so impressed with all the entrants so far. It really is inspiring. One day I'll be brave too!
Wonderful choice. Someone told me about her this year. I am not much of a people photographer and there are not many great scenes in rural Iowa. But I will do what I can with what I have.
@sourkraut I keep hoping we will get back to doing some landscape painters or expressionists. But there are so many good portrait photographers on this group, I am learning a lot. I am not much on photographing strangers either. I made my shot for today from the car at the gas station. There was a sad looking hitchhiker there, but my husband would not let me get close to him. He would have been perfect.
Well Robin. You are wonderful to spread the word about Vivian and for others to paste her work here for all to see. Just great. I feel her presence. I have few shots like these but I will see if i can get out a shoot a few this week.
@robinwarner I have seen a docomentary on the young guy who bought most of her stuff at an auction and saw a lot of her pictures..her pictures were phenomenal.
I went down town today and walked around the two blocks that have the most people around. I had a great time and made lots of shots most of which were bad. Even so I had lots of shots to choose from. My best opportunity, turned out to blurred to use, it was a guy with his shirt pulled up scratching his back. Too fun.
@nikkers Thanks. Actually I went out a made shots on the streets today, not many really interesting people out and about in our little town. Too hot for one thing. But I had a great time trying.
@robinwarner Robin, Congrats on your winning photo! I usually steer away from the artist challenge, but this one has me excited! Do the photos have to be taken this week? I have several older photos that I have converted to B&W so I can post, but I realize they may not qualify. I wish I had more time before I head out on Thursday, you have inspired me to head downtown Indianapolis!
This is a shot of the local polka radio station where I was guest today. I thought it looked a lot like the same era when Vivian photographed her wonderful street shots.
@robinwarner. Hi! Just stumbled across this challenge! Almost missed it. Will have to go out and look for something suitable. Had a look at the blog. Really inspiring. Oh and congrats for winning the other theme! (which photo was it?)
I've never done an artist challenge before, but Jon and I just so happened to have a little mini photo session in the city today. I'm sure I'll be uploading a few shots from there. Thanks to @harley84 for suggesting I enter this shot!
Can see why you were inspired so... very interesting life story and great photos - will look at when have more time (should be workin gnow haha)

a stretch for me(good thing:)) i see she had some great kid portraits/lifestyle shots so will go for it....
Congratulations Robin.
I keep trying these artist challenges although I don't have much skill. It is fun to try.
Shooting unsuspecting locals :) It's not street photography, so I am not sure if it qualifies.

I decided I could use this for the weekly theme too. He was so earnest about reaching his destination.
I sure do not get many comments when I put up black and white shots. I guess my few my few followers expect flowers and sunsets from me.
Here's mine:
