Due to overwhelming support and encouragement from so many 365'ers I have decided to re-post a slightly edited version of my nude selfie.
There are too many to name everyone here, but take this re-posting to be a "thank you" to each and everyone of you.
And a special thanks to everyone who also posted in the discussion and kept it going.
I love the human body, I've been a dancer for 20+ years so I have to say, the human form figures into my life 100%.
No desire to post a nudie of myself on 365 however! Public forum, you know. Nor would I run naked down Main Street, USA. My kiddos would be mortified.

not tryna be a spoil sport because i'm all for tasteful art. however, i don't honestly think that images with someone's testes are appropriate for a site like this where there are many teenagers with accounts. just sayin...
@andiejaye I am sorry that you find the theme inappropriate and misplaced. I did make it clear at the start that it was meant to be artistic and I think it still is.
As I write this of 210 viewers to the post you are the only person to raise an objection.This is fine and I respect and value your input. Any photos deemed unsuitable can and will be removed, no question.
I don't think you need to worry about teenagers too much in a theme such as this, in these days of internet / facebook etc., the photos here would not so much as raise an eyebrow.
I applaude all of your courage! I just did my first face selfie and that was hard! I hope to someday get comfortable enough to do that. Thanks for sharing!
Okay, I've been pondering doing a shot like this for a while, and this thread was the final encouragement I needed. Here's my shot for today. Not technically brilliant - the bright sunshine coming through the window means my face is over-exposed. I don't usually do self portraits at all, so this is quite a leap for me!! :o)

I already have a lot of nude pics but were taken by other photographers. Just wait until I get a tripod and one of those fancy remote button thingy and I'll upload mine... hopefully before day 365.
you might get one from me one day,i managed underwear shots last week due to having lost some weight so i took them to celebrate that,maybe if a lose some more i will celebrate with a nice tasteful nude selfie(my mum and dad laughed at my "glamour" selfies for the record)
Sheesh. Not this issue again. How about if you're likely to be offended don't click the link. Heck, don't even click on a discussion with this topic. If you're worried that the children will see something unsavory try locking them in a basement and cut them off from TV, the internet, adult books, other children, and the outside world in general until they reach adulthood. Do you honestly think teenagers haven't already seen it all? My parents took me to plenty of museums as a child where I saw nudity in art all the time and I think I turned out alright. But I doubt anyone's mind will be changed by a discussion like this.
@jdonnelly I'm sorry you took the pictures down because I thought they were wonderfully tasteful and very brave but I understand why you did it.
Amazing pics from everyone. :) I love the idea but need to get a wireless thingamajig for my camera before I could do it effectively. I don't understand all the drama; it's not like it's porn, and it's awful simple to NOT click something you find offensive. I actually was going to post a nude picture I'd taken of my fiance (completely not pornographic, it just turned out beautifully), but I didn't know if it would violate something and get me in trouble or what....
@jdonnelly i'm gutted that you took the pictures down, they were wonderful and I think it's a real shame if this community can't support nudes, as they are a huge part of the photographic community. Yours was beautiful, bravo to you and I hope that we see more!

Serious question tho - general adage is that Americans are more uptight about nudity, compared to other parts of the world. Since this is an international community, I'd like to hear from fellow 365ers.
I wish you hadn't deleted your nude self portraits. It's a powerful thing--the human body..and even more powerful when it is your own you are exposing. I understand that some people might be offended, or even scared to look at the human form....but why should they be? I find it strange when parents cover their children's eyes in art museums at a nude figure. If it is art you seek, you must be open to everything.
It's not like you did this in a pornographic tasteless way. Half the stuff posted on the cover of magazines is more offensive than what you posted here on 365!
I am very passionate about photography. Photography is life. Photography is the world around us. It's personal, it's beautiful, it's ugly...it's true. Don't let people make you afraid of your own work...and more so, your own human form. I say repost! :)
@emsabh from a different forum I attend I would agree wholeheartedly that there is more of a modesty/prudery issue from the US. There have been long threads about how to ensure your (female) nipples don't show through your clothing, the US side think it's dreadful, the rest go huh? (and mass generalising here I know not every single american is this way.)
@jdonnelly I wish you hadn't deleted the shots. It was a shot of a body. There are 2 basic body types in the world, one is male, the other female. I wish less people had hang ups about how they looked and less hang ups about what other people are showing.
In all honesty the title is Nude Selfie. It's a pretty good bet there's going to be a nude image. If people don't want to see, why come looking to be offended. I really do wish you hadn't deleted, there was nothing wrong with your shots.
I showed my shot when I first took it to my kids, 12,8,7 and the 3 year old doesn't count. They shrugged. They showed my shot to their friends...that to me says more than anything.

Then again I'd rather my kids didn't have body image issues or became curious and found out the 'hard way' what men look like so they are very aware of what bodies look like.
I am betting that anyone who is offended is from the US, the same country where parents thought their kids were be scarred for life because Janet Jackson's breast was revealed during the Superbowl. Grow up!
@annielf First of all, I will say I am from the U.S., and if you read my comment above, you would see that I am no where near offended. Secondly---I will agree with you that assuming it would be somebody from the States is probably accurate. We haven't reached that level of tolerance in the U.S. yet. I think it has a lot to do with the division of diplomatic arrogance and horribly overly exposed media. As I said before, half the stuff that is posted on the cover of our magazines could be taken far more offensive(if you let that sort of think upset you) than a little human form portrait.
@kmwilliams Not saying all Americans are offended, but that the people who were are most likely to be Americans. I'm American but have never been a prude, not all Americans are. But living abroad I've seen it from a different perspective. Europeans aren't so hung up on nudity.
@jdonnelly Thanks. That was the first selfie I posted of myself. After posting yourself nude, there isn't much else to be afraid of, is there? I'm working on my month of selfies now :)
@jdonnelly Thank you for starting this thread back up! The nude form is a beautiful thing and shouldn't be demonized. Imagine putting clothes Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes!
I've attempted a few nude selfies, but I could never get the lighting the way that I saw it in my minds eye. I may try it again. BTW, beautiful examples everyone! You should all be commended!
@annielf I was in my early thirties and Janet Jackson's breast scarred me. YUCK. If she wanted to expose herself she should have gone to Playboy where they could have A. done it tastefully B. airbrushed it and C. allow only people who WANTED to see it, see it. Every time I see her face, I see her floppy breast and ugly nipple.

i LOVE the photos, they are very tasteful, and i see nothing wrong with nude art, the human body makes a beautiful model.
