I hesitated to post this item. I did not take the photos in this collage after all, but the images are of something I have dreamed of for over a year-- a surfing lesson by the time I reached 50.5 The photos are generously provided by a friend, Susan C. Hines, who joined me in Bali for the trip of a lifetime. Going there was also a 365 project/photography dream. I traveled to Japan and Bali for some reasons besides a surfing lesson, but by golly, the surfing lesson was the central focus. I'm no spring chicken (so yes, posting this comes with some humility), and I was lucky to mount a board in any fashion, but I'm putting this out there to inspire anyone to go for their dreams, even if they seem silly at first (as I thought they were). Hang Ten 365. :)
@whimsicalgrateful it was pretty crazy, hard, and exhilarating at the same time. Won't be doing it again soon, but I would like to try in less rough waters here in the States some time. Better try soon because my arthritic knees are not going to get any better! :)
@k1w1 I thought I was going to be completely happy just riding a wave on my stomach, but my instructor was saying, "get up!" so I tried. The conditions were really too rough, but I'd like to try again--too bad not in Bali again, but I can do it one state over from me in the US. :)
SO GLAD Daryl that the trip wasn't just "all work and no play"...hahaha! Good for you for having a turn on the board! I'd be happily on the sand taking pictures of you also! Lovely!
