Sony A6000

July 26th, 2015
I've had my Sony A6000 for 6 months and I think it's a fabulous camera. But the lack of instructional information from Sony is disappointing. Here are sources I've found which might be helpful:

http://www.oldtimercameras.com/camera-instruction-manuals/stock/Model.asp?Model=27513&ModelPage=true
- paper instruction manual but, unhelpfully, has no page numbers

https://photographylife.com/recommended-sony-a6000-settings
- very useful info about the menu

http://www.sony.net/Products/di/common/images/products/qb9a/ILCE-6000_4DFOCUS_Camera_Settings_Guide.pdf
- just found this recently, by chance, actually from Sony

Has anyone else any info to share?

Atrociously organized, but some more information you might find useful. The troubleshooting section and "situations this product has difficulty handling" is interesting and helpful.

On back order at amazon.com. You might be able to find it other places.

Frank, I'll have a look at the David Busch. I feel ready to learn a bit more about my A6000 now and that could be really useful.

I had found the online Sony help guide but the atrocious organization is probably why I haven't bothered too much with it but I'll look at the sections you mention.

Thanks, as always!

A word of caution to anybody looking for the David Busch: on Amazon UK it is being sold for nearly £1,000......

I don't have it myself, but I have read some recommendations for the book by Gary Friedman. Sounds like it is quite complete and certainly less in cost than the David Buschs. http://friedmanarchives.com/alpha6000/index.htm

Many thanks - I saw this on Amazon UK so it's good to find more info about it - 599 pages - will keep me occupied for a while!

Actually I just ordered one for myself.I've been meaning to do it for a while but your inquiry just gave me a final nudge...time to find out all the secrets and intricacies of the camera.

@gardencat @quietpurplehaze The David Busch book is now available. No idea of the UK price, but $US23.50 in the USA. Half the price of the Friedman black and white book, and color too. You can't go wrong with his camera guide books.

@frankhymus

Thanks, going to keep an eye out for its release in UK, no sign so far.

@frankhymus Thanks for the update on the Busch book. I've just picked up the Friedman book as a download since I'll read it on my i-pad. That way I get the colour included...the price of a printed colour copy of his book is way too high for me. I will keep the Busch one in mind in case I find this one unsatisfactory...with the download version I also get a short time to check it out and get a refund if I'm not happy.

Gary Fong has an intro course on most of the Sony models.

It does cost $13.
