I absolutely love the feel and mood of a sepia photograph. I did a little research and came up with this information:
"Beginning in the 1880s, sepia was produced by adding a pigment, made from the Sepia officinalis cuttlefish found in the English channel, to the positive print of a photograph. The term ‘sepia’ comes from the name of the pigment.
Sepia photography has been popular amongst photography enthusiasts for years. This has been aided through the sepia filter that comes with many digital cameras.
In terms of design, a sepia palette can give an olden, aged or worn look to your work/photography. A sepia effect can be achieved via photographic toning (a chemical process carried out on prints), digital photography (filters) or in software such as Photoshop as part of post-production." I thought it would be great to showcase black & white's "little brother" sepia so post your favorite sepia photo from any of your photos. If you don't have one, try any editing program . . . sepia will make you nostalgic and relaxed.
@lbluejaye8 Thank you for bringing this into the light! There's a beautiful, timeless quality to all these pictures! I only recall posting one back in 2010...time to do another perhaps!
@Weezilou Hi Louise, yes this is Bern. In the distance you can see, the Clock Tower (Zytglogge). The ornate astronomical clock with its moving figures was built in 1530.
@mona65 Thank you! When we were there, I stood below the clock, but hadn't seen this perspective! Still, I couldn't imagine there were *a lot* of clocks like that! Fabulous!
Loving these sepia shots. I looked through my project and don't have many but I did like this one I posted in 2014. The sepia added mood, as so many have said.
As I lamented not having time to create a sepia photo, I went looking for "one" I knew I'd posted long ago. Came across several, and this seemed fitting enough to share. @novab might recognize this location
You may have many of us hooked on sepia now, Jaye! ( did notice that # before somethingaboutsepia just takes me to a list of tags. I'd loe to see the collection in one place!)

A portrait I did in sepia . . . the mom loved it! Brought out such a natural quality.
Changed to sepia setting on my camera.
So many different tones of sepia around! :-)
