Suggested replacement for the 'ol Canon S5 IS

My wife got my old S5 when I upgraded to the S10 Canon, many years ago. When I went to my current D5100, she got the S10 and somewhere along the line, gave the S5 to one of the kids. She has never really liked the S10 because of the macro features that the it didn't have (compared to the S5)

So what would your opinion of _current_ cameras that has the would match the S5 macro features and normal useage?

sooooo.... i'm not sure what the canon S10 or S5 were... or what their macro features are... when i google canon s10 i get entries from 1999! is that the camera you're talking about? or is their a more recent item you can point us to so we can get a sense of the features for comparison?

I would look at one of the Panasonic super zooms. I had a couple of them before I went to a DSLR, and was very happy with them. Perhaps the Panasonic Lumix FZ80. It would be a nice step up from the S5, but it's quite similar.
