@prairiesmoke - you can move or transfer photos to an album as long as the photos have different dates. simply go to the photo you want to transfer, click on the edit button (the little icon with a pencil drawing), then click the drop down arrow on 'Album' and choose or click the album you want. click on 'save this photo' (the green bar) and voilà!
also, you can move the photos to a past date but not a future date. @ludwigsdiana
p.s. - you would need to do this for each photo, no mass transfer i'm afraid.

I was hoping for something a bit quicker, but at least I know I can do it.
