Bad news: my mobile just died! Tried to repair it, but it went beyond the realm of reasonable cost to fix it. Now I am in the market for another one.
Good news: this is the chance to get an all-in-one phone with a quality camera in it.
Question: Is anyone here using their phone as their primary camera? What kind is it? Do you like the quality of the photos you are getting? I don't care too much about the other functions of the phone, other than usual access to internet & phone calls. What I want is a good camera on me all the time, and if I am going to be carrying my phone around with me anyways...
I am especially interested in which phone camera takes the truest to a DSLR. And I prefer to do the processing myself, rather than have the software pretty things up too much.
Also, I'm curious... does anybody use the Moto Z2 Play with the camera mod?
Here in Norway the Motorola Moto G5 Plus is always recommended for its excellent camera. I have a Sony Xperia M5 Aqua and the camera on that one is not particularly good.
On Android phones you can install an app called Open Camera which will give you more control over camera settings.
Hi Karyn - can't answer most of your questions but you can see here that a lot of people are using phones on this site: https://365project.org/cameras
For what it's worth, my iPhone SE takes excellent shots but it's a 'point and shoot'. It doesn't even being to compare to a DSLR and probably never will because of the small sensor size in camera phones.
I have a Samsung Edge 6+ which has a 16 MP camera and I love it - excellent picture quality and a pretty decent basic manual mode too. I use it a lot even though I have two 'proper' cameras.

Samsung 6 Edge is amazing. I don't use it as my primary camera, but it is the camera I have with me all the time, so for those times when I don't have my Lumix with me, it's perfect. Check out the 2 most recent photos on my project, both of these were taken with my phone last night.
@humphreyhippo Cool. Thanks! @helstor, Good tip about "Open Camera". And yes, I have also been hearing that the Moto G5 Plus is good (I'm also looking at the Moto Z2 Play - I like that it has an attachable camera!). Didn't know about Samsung 6 edge, @m2016@deborah63, but you both highly recommend it. So I will check that one out further for sure!
Samsung all the way! I just have my sons old Samsung S5 but love the photos it produces so find I don't carry my DSLR around much now! Most of my 365 shots are from my phone, with a bit of editing usually
