I was pleasantly surprised to have the honour hosting this new round of the artist challenge, thankyou.
If you are new here on 365 project this is a challenge where we look at the work of an artist and try to emulate their work, or simply be inspired by it to try new subjects and processing techniques
Karl Blossfeldt (1865 – 1932) was a German who studied and later became Professor of applied art and design. He took close-up portraits of plants, twigs, seeds, leaves, and other flora for 3 decades , as studies for their architectural and sculptural forms. He used homemade cameras with huge magnification. It was not until he was in his 60s that his photography was exhibited and he published 3 photo books which became very successful.
Hopefully you 're able to find plant forms where you live , even in the depths of winter, but there is an instagram account inspired by Karl blossfeldt which shares photographs of items from architecture and other applied arts which could be another angle to try. Also processing to emulate the photogravure technique he used is another aspect to the challenge.
*edited to add that although many modern cameras have super-macro settings if you have some extension tubes, magnifying filters or a reverse mount ring lurking in your photography kit bag get them out and use them!
