Question about cataract surgery

June 12th, 2021
I’m trying to decide between basic cataract surgery and one done with multi focal lenses. Has anyone had experience with the latter? If so does it in any way negatively effect your seeing through view finder? Or any other follow up problem with photography?

I have a reading eye and a long distance eye. I had eye laser surgery about 10 years ago. Means I haven't had to resort to either reading or long distance glasses. My good (long distance eye), started to deteriorate and I then had a lens replacement. Not surgery for cataract, but I believe it's the same op. I have no problems at all with the view finder. I now occasionally where glasses when driving at night. One side plain glass, the other just corrects my reading eye for long distance, feel more confident driving at night. It takes a little while for your brain to adapt to the binocular effect, but for me having worn glasses or contacts since I was 10, it has been absolutely liberating!
