Anybody know what these are?

I inherited them and the person I inherited from isn't telling me what she used them for. ( ie they're my mum's and I don't really want her haunting me.)

Pentax if that makes any difference.

the rings look like adaptor rings for the cokin filter holder so that you can use cokin with various sized lenses (a guess anyway) and the other states it is an extension tube set and heres some good words on extension tubes from the b&h photography website
"Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality."
This is what b&h have on Cokin http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/cokin.jsp

@lbmcshutter thanks, the cokin rings would make sense given I have a large number of cokin filters. I knew it was an extension tube but beyond that wasn't entirely convinced. Thanks....when I go looking I end up finding out all sorts of weird and useless info.

@voodoochild I included the info on extension tubes so you got more than what you could read on the side of them! I'm sure you can have some fun using all of this
I had a good collection of cokin gear but it was one of those things that was taken when i was burgled and I never got around to replacing (used the insurance money towards better camera)

@lbmcshutter oh, hope you didn't think I was complaining...I was just trying to show I wasn't completely dense lol. The info was much appreciated.

Step-down rings. Megan is right - these are used with the Cokin system (I use it), but they are also used simply to allow lenses to use normal filters that are not their size (usually because you buy filters for your largest diameter lens, and the rings let you use the filters on your smaller lenses too without buying filters for each). This is especially useful for expensive filters such as IR and polarising.

And that other thing is an extension tube, also like Megan said.

Nothing new to say - just confirming for you.
